Should I replace my bad steering box with the one out of my parts xj that is a complete unknown, and risk wasting my time installing a junk box, or pick up a WJ box and be done with it. I just cant decide

98 durango 5.3 without plow

i just stuck that in with a wj pump and power steering cooler.

its a little stiffer on the street, but offroad there is a HUGE difference

I had planed on that when I went up to 35's anyways, But today my box started to make a nice snapping noise when I turn.
The thing is I have a parts XJ, thats hit in the right front. It wouldnt cost me anything to throw that box in, but I am thinking there's a good chance that its going to be bad from the hit.

i just did the durango box, wj pump and a small hayden tranny cooler (used it for power steering) for $270

everything was new except the tranny cooler which was in new condition at a junkyard on a old 2.8l cherokee

money WELL SPENT.

my old steering box actually klunked on bumps
and when it all got hot, it would get spotty

I'll pay someone $200 to install gears in my D44 by sunday. It doesnt even have to be good.

I think the next mechanical change I do to the rig is the steering, I just gotta start a JY parts list. Aka whether only the '98 durango box works and what WJ pumps work (I know I just read about WJ pumps last wk or something, just dont remember exactly where)

Edit: Actually maybe I will have to buy them new seeing those prices and such, plus it makes finding them a whole lot easier
