Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, and my boots are AWESOME.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I need boots and pants now. I picked up a cheap clearance $30 jacket to hold me over until the local store starts getting their 3 layer mesh stuff in (once they clear out some current inventory). Pants are next on the list but I want matching jacket/pants so I didn't get any yet. I am planning to drop a few hundred on pants/jacket once they are in stock to try on. I was told I could order them now but I said I would hold off until he had everything in which should be soon. I think it's going to be a cold ride into work on thurs morning in slacks :gee:

And I always love just throwing lots of whatever into aluminum foil pouches and throwing those on the fire.

Or the best, make a 'sacrifice' (or at least I think that's what I recall it being called)... get a full roast. Stab roast with a knife many times and stick cloves of garlic down into the holes (I suppose this is optional since some people don't like garlic :dunno:). Season roast with whatever salt/pepper/spices you want. Then wrap the roast in wax paper 10 times, turn 90* and wrap 10 more times (so you cover all 4 sides) then keep turning and wrappinguntil you have 60 wraps or so. Toss the roast in a bed of coals and essentially bury it for maybe 5 hours depending on size of roast. Then dig it out and just cut through the paper (each person can peel the paper off the edges of their slice). The wax all melts down and creates a seal keeping all the juices in. Delicious. Combine that with wax paper corn on the cob in the coals and some aluminum foil pouches of mixed veggies and you're good to go.

That's what I need :D I just called him. He hit a curb with the front tire. Needs front shock, tie rod, control arms, apparently a headlight and fender (but fender can wait for all I care)... Pretty much the passenger front suspension needs to be replaced and the tire hit the fender and bent it a bit. I will be calling a guy I know who runs a local shop and seeing how much the parts would cost to fix it. I am near the top of the list of guys getting a call about it (it is being delivered mid week from the insurance company). Might be stopping by the local walmart for a cashiers check tomorrow incase I am the first one to take a look at it... unless I talk myself out of buying it before I get to walmart.

I bet you $5 the frame is tweaked...i don't think all of the parts connecting the frame to the wheel are bent but the frame isn't. Could be though. and it's a pretty good deal if you can fix it up cheap. Just remember if you get it you have to get it to pass the strict inspection to have a salvage title.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wow. yeah. i'm dealing with those problems now. good luck. could be a waste of $4500

Yup, I know all that. I planned on giving it a good check to make sure the frame is OK. I have a strange feeling that I won't get it though. Apparently the guy has had a few people calling daily asking if he got the car yet (sounds like they are going to drive to his place as soon as he gets it). I will be stuck at work until after normal business hours and will then have to spend time getting a trailer or something so I'm thinking I may be SOL.

Edit: That engine/trans alone could be worth pretty close to $4500 if I parted out the vehicle. I bet it could sell for $3000+ easily seeing as LS1s with trans are going for $2500. Sell an LS6 with T56 trans and full computer as a "ready to swap in" setup... could bring in at least $3000 I bet. Add in the suspension parts that are still good that could be sold on ebay for probably another $500, apparently the interior is mint which is another $500 at least if you factor in the DVD/Nav system... I could part it out and make my $$ back. Not that I want to spend all the time parting it out but if I needed to I could.

you would get more than that if you parted it. the seats, dash, panels, hvac, accessories, wheels, body panels, lights, etc...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know, I read that thread back in March when it was all current/developing... and searched/refound it a few hours again as well heh. I like the eggs in a bag deal. I'm mostly (at least currently) looking for stuff dealing with a camp stove/grill, although that "sacrifice" sounds awesome as well

Definitely, I would never want to do a part-out to make money though, would take way too long to get rid of everything. Maybe if I already had the parts vehicle and had pulled what I wanted.

hmmm... if I buy a house I'll have a spot to put a parts vehicle. Hope the lawyers are doing their jobs.
