THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

seriously? I don't want to do one, but shit, 100 bucks is a lot o beer...

... even when you drink expensive hipster beer, I just can't get used to bud lite / pbr :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmmm, if I had already done one one I would offer...

...but I have not yet done a heater core, and hearing the PITA that it is, I think I will have to decline. Unless someone wants to go half and half, then maybe we could work something out.

But 100$ is alot of PBR or a *decent* amount of good beer.. or even better, one bottle of scotch.... and my scotch cabinet has been empty for about a month now. This is getting more tempting by the minute.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the training for snowboarding Tuckerman's Ravine has officially commenced. a few friends and I hiked up Blue Hills a few times today in search of some "backcountry", and then hiked up a bunch of hills in Boston looking for some cheater snowboarding. I've been itching to get up there, has anyone else here done it?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not by choice surely, but if I needed to get to work etc I would - I keep a pair of milsurp wool gloves in my jeep when I don't forget them at friend's houses. They were warm enough to keep me alive driving from Haverhill to Worcester in 20 degree weather with no window. With that for reference, no heat doesn't seem too too bad... lol

Dont get me wrong if you gotta, you gotta. I had to ride my Harley to work one winter day to work that was a half hour highway ride, after awhile you stop feeling cold or just feeling.

my girlfriend has been driving her jeep all winter with no heat to greenfield and back everyday. you guys are XXXXXXs.

on a side note, ill pay someone 100 to do a heater core in a 96 xj.

Bring it Sat. and consider it done.

While I was unemployed I rode my XT350 whenever I could (unemployed from Jan-May). I rode just because I had nothing better to do, it was good on gas, and it was fun. Riding in the winter is great, though as I said earlier: I do feel like if I was forced to be cold on the way to work mid-winter first thing in the morning I would be miserable. It doesn't matter if it's car or bike. Though bike would be a bit worse.

Last year I rode around VA the whole time I was down there. Just about every day I got home from work, walked inside, changed, rode the bike to the grocery store, got whatever I wanted to have for dinner, and rode home, bags in hand (or in backpack if they fit). Being from MA I had no issue at all, but I got so many looks like I was a raging lunatic :roflmao:

I still think the best look was when I went outside and just sat back in the snow wearing a sweatshirt and shorts during the first snow of the season. Everyone else was in huge coats and stuff. It was awesome, they thought I was nuts. :D
Bring it Sat. and consider it done.
btw, what time is everyone heading out that way? I was planning on doing a couple fixes on saturday morning but if people are heading out early in the day I could just put in an extra couple hours per night to get it done/ready.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My mom bought nacho cheese nachos and I just melted more cheese on them to make regular nachos. I am now eating an explosion of cheese you can only imagine in your wildest dreams.

Oh and check this out:

Drove this today, kinda weird.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That would be weird, but at least it was an auto I guess. I think it would be harder to have to worry about shifting with the left hand too.

My boss had to do just that one time he went to Cork. He ended up flying in and landing at 5AM. He then had to drive to Cork in the dark (IIRC he said it was a 1.5 hour drive), while driving on the "wrong" side of the street, with the manual trans on the "wrong" side. And he hadn't driven a car with a manual trans in [many] years so from what he told me, he had a hell of a time. Apparently he hit a number of curbs and barely made it to the hotel. I really hope they send me to Cork next time instead of him! :D

Edit: Mmmmm, five guys... I have to start going to the gym again, I have put on enough weight as it is... then maybe I can treat myself to one of those delicious burgers again., heh\

Edit2: Wtf is hanging from the mirror?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It didn't really make anything harder, just funny I guess. I don't think if it was a manual it would have been any harder. The clutch would still be used by your left foot and shifting isn't so hard I can't do it with my left hand. Little things like getting in and out of the car just don't feel right.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

WRONG !!!1
Don't get me wrong, I love my manual trans... Every vehicle I own is a manual. I just feel like the first time driving on the "wrong" side of the car may be simplified due to it being an auto. :dunno:

I never had it until I moved to VA. Then when I came back they had opened one up here. Gilette is kindof on my way home from work, though I have only stopped into 5 guys there once since I got back up here in Jan.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So the j-bolts from funjeepsparts were 2$ or so, maybe they would be inflated to somewhere in the 10$ range from the stealership... funjeepsparts was going to charge 14$ shipping so I figured I would pay a bit more and pick them up locally if I ended up needing them...

I just called the parts dept and they want 22$ per bolt!!! Even the guy on the phone who works for them came back in disbelief saying he has never seen a J-bolt that expensive and he said he doesn't blame me for not wanting them.

I mean I could understand if it were both of the bolts for 22$. I wonder if maybe the guy looked up the part and Jeep only sells the bolts in pairs? So it would be 22$ for both? (I think I am dreaming, but oh well). Maybe I will call back or call another stealership later and see if they have a different price or other information.

every yr for the past few yrs i hike tucks... gulf of slides is better though, less people and same technical challenge. its to the left of tucks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You've got a PM. I'm very interested if they are spiral flute with round shanks.

I've only had it once as well. The fries are awesome.

you order a large fry

and its in the same container as a small fry, they just fill the paper bag to the brim with em' lol.

ANYWAY

so my jeep wont be built this weekend

first week of february i have the shop to myself

FOR A WEEK

no worrying about having to get it out before work the next day and whatnot.

it would be nicer to take my time and not rush things and potentially cut corners

and this gives me time to order air bumps and front stiffys

If you're not coming on the 17th, I'm going to punch you in the scrotum.

The first time I went there I got myself a burger and fries. I saw them fill that little cup and thought "THAT'S a large fry?!?" (I was pretty disappointed). I then saw them proceed to continue filling the bag with fries. I can't tell if I love or hate the fact that I have to eat my way down to my burger :roflmao:

Then one time I went there and decided to order a small fry instead (I wasn't feeling like such a fatass that day). They just filled that small cup... and then filled the bag in the same way they do for a large. :dunno: guess the moral of this story is to just save your money and order a small, if you get lucky it may be the same at all 5 guys locations and they just fill the bag regardless or what size you order.

Edit: Now I wish I had a box of peanuts to snack on.
