THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just had to go pull my sis's friend out of being high centered in her explorer. She kept saying "I don't think you're going to be able to get me out, I don't think I'm pull-able."

I told here there is no possible situation she could have gotten into around her that I wouldn't have been able to get her out of.

I get there, and I laugh because she isn't even stuck, a quick pull (didn't even need to rev it up or pull hard) and she was out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

PARTY.

actually. i am kinda in the same boat. theres a few parties and a bon fire i could go to, but none are too appealing at the moment.

Now a bon fire... thats an idea! I would love to have one except if we did have one where we usually do at my buddy's place, his gf (a bitch) and other friends would come. Some friends aren't bad but some are young (one kid's bro would come who is not even 18, though he is VERY responsible and has maybe a beer or 2 since he knows if he gets caught its our necks on the line). But half the other kids I don't like hanging out with anyway so thats out the window. :dunno: Looks like I'm back to square 1.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

man, my main PC is having some serious issues. think I might have got them sorted out... knock on wood...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

whoa whoa whoa bonfire what

We actually had a sorta bonfire last night at my friend's place... we had a lot of scrap wood to dispose of, but had trouble getting it to catch fire because it was mostly covered in ice. Let's just say that 2.5 gallons of gasoline, a quart of used brake fluid, about a pint of used brake cleaner, and a can of starting fluid came in handy...

Glad the wind was blowing though, because it was probably quite toxic. :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

we usually use a combination of gasoline and diesel. Seems to work OK.

For our fire pit we use a halved 100 gallon drum, essentially one of those big oil tanks from the basement. Legally you can only have an "open fire" during certain months, at certain times, and you have to call it in to the fire dept, however you can have an enclosed fire whenever... aka one of those raised fire things that have side grates and a top are fine year round.

So my buddy had some steel grate stuff laying in his back yard for some reason, we cut a chunk off of that. In the event that the fire dept or a cop stops by we just throw the grate over the fire and we can claim its an enclosed fire :D Only problem is the wood is usually stacked at least twice as high as the surface where the grate would have to rest... so it could get interesting

Edit: So I think one of my HDDs is fried. Come to think of it I have only really seen 4 drives reflected on my PC lately and I definately have 5 installed. I THINK I have 3 plugged in right now and I only have two being detected. Hmmmm, looks like I have some work ahead of me tonight... I don't think there was anything saved to that drive (I backed most everything up to my 1TB drive a while back, except my music and a few other things since.. well... I have over 1TB of stuff and it wouldn't fit. Meh, oh well, looks like I will be bringing it into work tomorrow and playing around with hex workshop to see if I can recover anything off it. Gives me something to do in order to kill time at work I guess.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Man this computer is F***ED up! Though I think I am starting to narrow down what's going on with it.. but I guess I can't be sure.

Long story short:
-Computer powered up with 3 drives attached but only 2 were detected under my computer.
-computer then wouldnt power up with all 3 attached
-unplugged all drives (except main drive). Wont start
-plugged in main drive with the "good" drive. No start
-plugged in main drive with "bad" drive... starts but only sees main drive in my computer (see's both via device manager)
-plug in 3rd drive, wont start
-unplug all drives, only main drive again, no start
-main and "bad". start
-main, bad, and good, start with 2 of the drives detected and accessable.

So apparently somehow windows must have put part of the install or some system files or something on the "bad" drive, which is preventing me from using that drive for file storage but it is needed to run the OS? :banghead::doh: Looks like its about time to buy a copy of win7 (I am still currently running the beta version). Then just do a clean install and format the 2nd drive so I get that 500GB of space back :dunno:

Edit: So in the above comments, my main drive (where I installed windows) is 75GB, the "bad" drive is 500GB, and the "good" drive is 250GB. I did a bit more digging and for some reason my PC is detecting the 500GB drive as "Main" (no drive letter, just labeled as "Main" when looked at in disk management). The 75GB is C:, and the 250GB is *insert drive letter here*. Now this has me wondering "why?" and "what data is on taht 500GB drive other than this "main" info... data retrieval time... this could be fun :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is the bad drive a Seagate Barracuda SATA with SD15 firmware? Those are known to have an issue something like that, google for more info and a resolution.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I do have a 500GB segate (quite possibly the barracuda). I have 2 of them actually. One is dead and in a box somewhere and one is still fine.. but it is sitting on the desk next to me, not installed right now, so I hope it isnt causing issues

The 75 is a WD raptor, and I THINK the 250 is a segate and the 500 is a hitachi. It could be the other way around though. Will have to check once I finish the stuff I am doing right now. Hopefully that's my issue. Thanks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well, you said long story short...that is not short, sir!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, it was short when I started it, then I kinda kept working on the computer and typed a bit more each time I was rebooting and sitting back for a min. So it became longer and longer.

But on that note, the "Main" drive is 100% empty so I think I will just be formatting that as soon as I get a copy of windows 7.

No, unfortunately. I got a hug and she told me "she owes me." But don't worry, I'll plant the seed. (hopefully literally as well as figuratively)

Oh, ya, I ordered RuffStuff frame stiffeners today...
