Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alright so I just opened my box from Summit and I'm looking thru all the parts and realize that I only have 1 90* fitting and there should be 3, so I check to see if one of the other boxes will have them. I dont know what kind of shipping centers they have but I got one in my UPS shipment, I'm getting another in a USPS shipment(just the fitting), and the other is coming from Fedex with my tranny shift/rebuild kit. Nothing like spacing it out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

as long as ya get it all that's what counts!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What else. Oh yeah, it was like a sneek peak into xmas looking at all the stuff in the box. I got in an argument with my 5yr old daughter because she wanted to see what I got but I told her "No its mine, you can't touch. Now go to your room." She told me I'm not nice and I should share, so I gave her the big plastic bag to play with. Now that I think of it I haven't seen her in awhile, I better go check on her.

Bah, should have stopped by home depot on the way home for nuts and bolts so I can mount up the bumpers :banghead: Oh, on that thought, you want to use grade 8 bolts for installing the bumpers, right? I thought I read somewhere that someone recommended grade 5 for front bumper or the unibody bracket or something, mentioned something about tensile strength IIRC... but idk if I agree with that...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just use grade 8, if nothing else at least for the steering box bolts.

isnt there a warning on most plastic things about doing that?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

WTF, does uhaul have a custom nut/bolt size or somethign?!? I just tried to take the trailer hitch that's on my Jeep off and NONE of the sockets fit anywhere near close... so I used the closet match and hoped the nut wasn't on too tight. Now I have a nice round nut. Oh well, angle grinder comes out to play again.

Edit: Awesome

Tried both SAE and metric? I've never seen any Whitworths on an XJ so I would be really surprised if it was anything except an SAE or metric size.

Oh I sat down with my socket set (yes SAE and metric) and went down the line. It went from loose to not fitting. Doesn't really matter, just means that if I sell/give the trailer hitch to anyone they will need to get new bolts. I'm not losing any sleep over it.

 custom 3 links ftw!

Mine is more of a custom 3.5 now though, it's lasted since Lobsterfest with me driving it however I want to. I finally realized that my ghetto repair was stronger than the axle was when I bought it and that I should stop pussyfooting around and just drive the damn thing. Still can't wait to put my new axle with rebuilt LCA brackets in though.
