THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

at one of my old co-op jobs we had one of those home depot tool chests and it was actually really nice. I'd buy one. it was 2 peices too, just not easily seperable.
when you say home depot.. do you mean it was similar to that 23 drawer one I posted? Apparently that one is brand new. I would definately consider buying that if its OK quality and just putting it in storage until I could use it...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it was like that exact one you posted. it's one of those things that's sold as a "home depot" brand (Husky maybe?) but is really just a rebadged other brand. my "Husky" compressor is blatantly just a CH compressor, painted red. but yeah we had that exact box and it was pretty sweet.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am a fatass and I have a 1986 FZX700 (I refuse to call it a 'Fazer' although this model is the original and only true Fazer.. all the fzr's after my bike were called 'fazer' or similar by owners but yeah, they werent.. anyway).

The 700 is more than enough power, pushing up around 75-85 hp at the wheel, thats fine for me. haha. my other bike is an 89 xt350. made 30hp and was great offroad, still love riding that thing.

The only issue I have with it is the forks/tires. Its low and comfortable, can ride it forever like a cruiser, plus it's got a smooth engine (straight 4) and is nice for the corners.. long story short its a standard style bike. Not sure why Americans never liked standards.. i love them.

I am replacing the front forks with fzr600 forks (or replacing the entire front end with FZR1000 front end for even better performance) and machining down a swingarm from an FZR1000 or similar to fit my bike.

Really, the forks are OK.. but the only wheels that fit are 16" front and 15" rear or something like that, so you can only get cruiser tires. so you do a front/rear fork/swingarm swap and use the wheels from the donor bike which will let you run street bike tires. The front is a direct swap, the rear need machining.

Plus I am adding Vmax rear suspension or just buying a progressive 1" lift set to raise the rear end a bit and get some more ground clearance for corners. I already drag around corners sometimes. The other great thing about this bike is that if you want more power... an 88-89 FZR1000 engine (130HP) is a direct swap in. :D:D:D I love it and would definitely recommend the bike if you could find one or even liked it at all. haha

Edit:Oh and it was only made for 2 years here in the States... plus its 1 year away from being an 'antique' so it may start increasing in price soon. I'm damn glad I got mine (mint condition with a couple paint chips) for $1100 this summer. That is the only reason I don't want to do any mods... I don't want to mod a near collectible bike that already runs great with only 15k miles. Not to mention the only year that matters is the 86 since they made the 87 look like ****.
They are pretty cool, but it's just not my style bike. I'm pretty much set on a R6 or 600rr. I've only had luck with Honda and Yamaha atvs and dirtbikes. I've been looking for a while now and it's the time when the good deals come out now.

I have a similar plan. I want to start with sliders, bumpers and whatever to get the hang of getting decent bends out of it then work out a plan for a GOOD cage with someone and make it out of pipe. As long as your pipe is ASTM and not from china or mexico it should be pretty darn strong. Not as strong as DOM but stronger than HREW since it has more diameter and thickness usually.

I was thinking of using ERW

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

serious question...why? I'll be honest, I've head this from a few different places, but no one seems to have any specific, first hand experiences with having a compression fitting fail. I've got 2 or 3 of them on my rig, and they've been there for about 2 and 1/2 years without a single problem from any of 'em. It just seems to me that all the compression-fittings-are-bad talk is just hearsay. I'm open to see what others have to say though :viking:

Probably hearsay. I know my Dad loves them as well :roflmao:.

Also, I don't think I've ever doubleflared brakelines or tranny lines when I've done them. Can't say I've ever had an issue either and I slam on my brakes a lot.

This was made entirely out of poop pipe

AWESOME.

This guy builds poop pipe cages for people. 1 5/16th .130 wall. i sold him axles awhile back

Is that guy's name Justin by any chance...? Does he have a CJ-5? If so, I think I've met/wheeled with him before.

as of right now i am planning on it

I was thinking about going to that as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah the handy man, would his name be sergio? he a XXXXing tard. the plumber is sean quin and i never met the roofers
yeah he put the wrong new knobs back on the faucets in my bathtub with dabs of Mighty Putty and sheetmetal screws when the old ones broke off. It's a clawfoot tub and he didn't happen to have the right knobs. They broke off a week later and we resumed using my spare leatherman as a knob until one of the valve seats actually blew up, resulting in the water never turning off, which meant an emergency call that we knew would not go to the handyman, but the real plumber instead. His work was excellent.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wheeled wambus with that guy in the zuki few weeks ago, it goes pretty good and if it gets stuck you can just pick it up and move it haha

Remember that tube is measured differently than pipe so the dies wont fit the tube right. The don't even fit pipe so well right out of the box. That's why it kinks tubing to sh!t and does marginally better on pipe until you've modded it usually by welding to the top of the dies and grinding it down until it sits flush and/or make a strap to go over the top.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Don't use pipe.

/subject

I am now now going to weld an exo cage made out of schedule 80 seamless pipe onto my cherokee and drive it into yours.

POOP PIPE FTW!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm gonna build my cage out of threaded brass pipe and shower curtain rods. BEAT THAT!

I think that might actually end up costing about as much as DOM, threaded brass fittings are pricey.
