Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahaha, well in that case........

on a side note, i never wanna go back to my mig. i forogt how much i <3 tig. ill probably end up tig'ing everything else on the d60 and 14b.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

now i jsut need to get my bridgeport goin so i can be rediculous and shave my axles. what do you guys think, should i try and out do dynatracs high clearence housings or just do the bottoms?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, you picked up a sweet welder. i would feel bad learning on a machine as nice as that. i'm gonna try to get a bigger one next summer and sell mine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ross, do you have any machining experience?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

a little bit, there were a couple of bridgeports at wyotech, but i never really did anything big on them. once its all hooked up and running, you and bill are gunna have to come over for some drinks and show my some of the finer points

eh, I won't. I don't see how it will screw it up?

The big selling point for me is the dual voltage. We don't have 220 wired up yet, so I can use 110 to practice on.

Not to mention it was on sale for only $100 more than a 180.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha... yeah. for me it was more like get up at 7-9 and do work till 2 am sometimes though. oh engineering. i do have way more free time now too. just sucks that i have like no friends in the area

Ditto. Note I said being in the labs until 9 or 10. Doesn't mean the work ended there. Fresh/soph years werent too bad. Jr and first semester Sr year were pretty much 7 days a week, at least 12 hours of work per day. Some weeks I would be up and in the labs at 8AM, and not leave the labs until 2AM the next day. Loved my college though, the professors would stay and keep the labs open for ya until almost any hour of the night (and help you with your work until then). Went to a small school that no one heard of, but damn there was some dedication from the engineering staff. :D

I agree about the whole friends thing. I had a couple friends in the area this past summer, but one went away to boot camp (comes home for 2 weeks around Xmas, before headingback out for more training in Jan-March), one moves to TX next wk, and one to Austrailia in January. Sigh. Then i just got a couple other friends I lost touch with, guess that just means I get in touch with old friends again and start going to the gym more often

yeah, that's a good deal. you won't hurt the machine at all... i just didn't have that kind of $ when i ran into projects that required welding.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin, the DVI is sweet to have!! eventully ill sell my 180 and get myself a nice 251 millermatic. And a syncrowave 250. And a thermal dynamics 51.

Dual voltage??!?! damnit, i wanted a 220V welder (my first, so I suppose 110 is enough for now) but we dont have 220V output anywhere I could use it... So I got a millermatic 135.

If I knew the 211 was dual voltage i would have been looking for one of those :banghead: oh well. The part that really pisses me off is that I had a pretty good miller 220V lined up but couldnt take it because of the no 220V power outlets... well just the other day I was discussing welding with my father (who doesnt know anything about welding) and i mentioned I cant wait to get my own place and run a 220V line to the garage. He asked if I could just use his generator. I forgot he had that thing nevermind that it has a 220V out! I would have picked up the 220V setup in a heartbeat if I knew that. Nice welder though! I wish I had one :)

Yeah, well my father chipped in on it with me as he wants me to teach him how to weld when I finally learn. But I agree, I probably wouldn't have bought it all on my own.

Yeah it should be pretty sweet! I have no idea what those other things are lol.

When you get a free day, mind if I pop over and weld with you for a day? You can tell me if I'm being retarded or not :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'm trying to find a smug response to your jibba-jabba

a big MIG, a big TIG, and a big Plasma cutter. my three dream tools that i WILL own at some point

You can tell me if I'm being retarded or not :gee:

youre being reatrded.....:D

.......when i get off my sick ass and go get a piece of 3"x6" rect tubing, well do some welding on the 60.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Okay Ross, i've got a plan for you...come pick up my 14 bolt and then grab some 1/4" and some 3/8" and make me some shock mounts, some u-bolt eliminators, and a pinion guard. Oh, you can paint it black too.

K, thanks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just realized I haven't touched my welder since I bought it a couple weeks ago.

I need more free time.

Don't feel bad Colin about 2 years ago I bought a tig/plasma cutter when I was building bikes and just getting back into Jeep. I figured I could use it for both but stopped working on bikes and barely have time to build anything, so it sits in the workshop doing nothing. I wired the workshop for 220 and I even have some serious extension cords but I still have not attached the plug end to the machine. Every once in a while I wipe the dust off. I know, I know, it's a huge waste and no you can't have it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if he can't have it... can i?
