THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They are in my case. I'm running 11.5 wide tires on stock rims and my tires are so close to my spring clamps that they have a clean ring around the sidewall (no wear though, I check often) - and the ford exploder 8.8 is 59.5" WMS to WMS vs the stock XJ 60.75" iirc.

get new wheels instead of spacers, also if your going from a d35 to a 8.8 you will need a shorter driveshaft

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll have to keep my eye out for new wheels with less backspacing... don't really want to break the bank, but I guess I can probably find a set of rims for a decent price somewhere.

I have an 8.25 right now - between that and the lift, think I'll be fine on driveshaft length? When I do this I'll be installing my SYE the same day because I'll already be halfway there + under the Jeep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well in that case your definitley gonna need a new driveshaft

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

damnation. I missed that part in the thread I was reading about how to do the swap. Time to reread it and see what else I missed.

EDIT: huh. e-brake cables. Who the hell needs those? :anon:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I didnt run ebrake cables for over a year. Completely un-necesary (and thats with an AX-15). Just go get a new inspection sticker before you do the swap so you have a full year to get ebrake cables installed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got one about a month ago :D all set on that front.

I told everyone here at work I'd be leaving an hour and a half early to go look at another house, but it looks like there is no way I'll be able to pick the one in Westminster up because it's got no title V paperwork and is between a lake and some wetlands... guess I'll be spending my time in the Ford section of Sam's instead! Glad I charged my sawzall batteries up after last weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmmm...
looks like my options are $100 for 8.8 + $25 for flange adapter + $50-100 for spacers + $40 for perches, or $100 for 8.25 29sp + $150 for gears + $75 for master kit (cheapest gears I can find, I know). front axle won't change in price/requirements either way.

so $265 for a stronger axle with LSD (better than nothing!) but 4.10s, or $325 for a weaker axle, open, with 4.56s (cheaper gears, probably loud, can't hear anything over my tires anyways.) I'm extremely unlikely to break either one, I really would like a locker but can't afford it so LSD is tempting. EDIT2 oh, and the 8.8 comes with discs if I pick the right one.

Influence and/or harass me into one or the other!

EDIT: Sam, it might just be me, but I couldn't see how his driveshafts aren't running into his arms.
i'll post my thoughts on this later. don't let me forget. i'm @ work now otherwise i'd take the time to spell it out.

Nice meeting you too.

I was on here and in UJ several years ago (when we had the old site, I was a paid member and everything!:D). Then I moved to VA for a while and didn't have my Jeep so I stopped checking in with NAXJA and UJ. Now I am back and hooked again.

The only time I met people from UJ was at the Jeep rally several years ago, back in either '06 or '07. not sure really which it was.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone know how to remove dually adapters on a D60, i know nothing of these axles

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

BFH cheater bar and flame wrench solve all problems!

No pics seem to work, but here is a pirate thread on it: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-30311.html

x2. Except lately my "problem solver" is a BFH and the biggest craftsman screwdriver I have (probably 1.5' long, 3/8" wide). Has been doing me well.

Though I did just recently get my oxy-acetelyn setup (I just need an adaptor for one of my valves) and I lost my 2' breaker bar. So I gotta get one of them too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to wheel this weekend anddd I can't. gayness. The following weekend, I *could* on Sunday but it's the M&G in RI. Oh well... I'm pretty excited for eating at that place though, on the upside :) it sounds really good
