The Frog Blog

Somebody offer me a realistic price for the Frog and you can drive it away in time for Sierra Fest. Otherwise, it'll be part of the SoCal chapter. Ha. PM me if you are serious and want an exceptional rig.

i don't have any money but

sorry to hear your wanting to sell, and moving, wish i got to wheel with ya. seems like a well thought out rig. good luck to you down there.

selling with or without tires?

Selling with new rims and my current KM2's. The ConnFerr rack goes to my kid's Jeep (will swap for his rack). I'm also planning to replace the clock spring to restore the cruise, horn, and airbag. Otherwise, this the rig is built with the quality crap listed in my signature line (and more).

Keep in mind, I'm only selling to simplify my short term existence and to avoid having to move all of my vehicles down south in a short amount of time. I'll also be taking the opportunity to buy and build an '04 WK for more of a long-range adventure rig.

I do know the ridiculous (disappointing) value of used parts, but without the right price I'll just hang on to the XJ and still be happy. So far, however, the cheeseburger deal is the best offer.

sorry, i was refering to the soft 8's you are selling. are they just rims or with tires? i know someone looking for a set...

Replaced my rims today with....the same steel Soft 8's I had before. I like the look of black rims, steel rims are cheaper, and the round holes make me drool. With the way I wheel, aluminum rims would be toast on the first trip out. Besides, my Mickey Thompson's are still on back order and I needed to get these on today. If I keep this rig, I'll end up with aluminum Mickey T's when I change to 33x12.50's (unless the Mayan's are right).

Look...no scrapes!

Feels like spring. Popcorn tree in full bloom and new rims.

Beater rims are for sale in the SC For Sale forum...

Oooh, I found this picture while organizing my photos. This was March 28, 2009, the day I brought the Frog home. She's changed a bit, but so have my other vehicles...I've since sold the trailer (in garage), bought a 2011 Kodiak travel trailer, replaced the '06 Odyssey with an '06 Grand Cherokee, and replaced the '08 Civic with a '12 Maxda M3. Oh yeah, and Kevin replaced Old Blue (below) with the Green Machine. Like father, like son. I've kept the wife, though.

There's Old Blue. Man, that was a great Jeep.

The good wife told me that since moving to SoCal will suck, we will buy a class C motor home and will make frequent trips north for visiting and wheeling. Oh, and she said I need to definately plan on driving up for Sierra Fest. No arguments. What an awesome wife. Now if I can get the girlfriend to come along with me......ha ha ha.

I'll be working down south starting April 11. Now I'm in the market for a house AND a new motor home. Crap

We test drove this 2011 Itasca Impulse Silver Class C motor home today as a replacement for the 2011 Kodiak travel trailer. Very nice. Heading back tomorrow to work the numbers.

Glad to hear you are keeping the Frog!

Thanks man. There is a lot going on and everything is uncertain on the home front right now. Not sure how long I'll be in SoCal, not sure if I need to sell or rent the house, not sure if I need to rent or buy down south, or how and when to eliminate the WK. Seems crazy amidst all of this to drop 80k on a motor home but at least I know I will able to drag the XJ around and camp in style. Plus, the kid returns in a couple months and were planning some big trips, including Moab in 2013, among others. At least wheeling and awesome adventures will always be there. Priorities, man.

Rent the Sac house out and live in the new motor home till you figure it out. Save the cash and buy another place in SoCal and you can rent it out if you come back north to where the real people live.

And I might be :passgas: but it's a thought.

you could live in a van down by the river eating government cheese...

Surge brakes for flat towing! ingenious!

What happens if you break your jeep while away from home?

I sold the 2006 Grand Cherokee WK (aka Gadget) today. This was the best overall vehicle (out of 32) I have ever owned. I enjoyed the comfort of the plush leather seats, power of the 5.7L hemi, and style of the Overland package. She was a pleasure to work on and gave me plenty to do while the XJ sat idle. It towed my 25' Kodiak travel trailer (sold last week) to Yosemite, Moab, Tahoe, and Lake Havasu without a problem, and hauled the family to Washington, throughout Utah, and Arizona on many trips. Live long, Gadget.
