Yup, I get sued regularly here over stupid shit.............. none of it goes anywhere but it is a fact of life in this business!

LOL! Yup, the life of a detentions/corrections officer doing his job generally results in being named in civil rights violation lawsuits....... I'm listed on 3 currently....

One for denying an inmate's excessive requests for hundreds of pages of legal copies of documents dealing with a case he wasn't being held by our agency for, and copies for his divorce filing....... (my cops will not be made to be inmate's personal legal secretaries...)

Another for not giving an inmate enough time to stop his violent bashing of a cell door that went on for 4 hours... before sending in the black pajama squad to taze and remove him. I have a strict "Ask 'em, then tell 'em, then do 'em" policy..... and I left 4 hours between the tell and do part.......

The 3rd one is for not repremanding one of my Deputies for having used foul language toward an inmate ....... even though the inmate freely admits to having issued a barrage of profane insults at the Deputy first.....

I feel your pain! My best one was being sued for half a million because I went through some legal work looking for contraband....... which I found :D I am currently being sued for denying an inmate proper medical attention while being held in my SHU for being stupid.....

There used to be just that, it was called NO cameras and nobody cared ......... bleeding hearts have prevailed and now everything is video taped for our protection...... :cool:
 
Ouch. $97 just to transfer title into my name for the Blazer buggy........

Took the Eliminator MJ in to a sunroof shop - guy thought he could repair it - he couldn't. New one is $475 ?!?!?! Jeezus. It's not like they gotta cut a hole in the roof and headliner...... :rolleyes:

What is wrong with the sunroof? Is it a leaking seal? My wife's subaru sunroof seal came apart at the seam, and of course the dealership doesn't sell the seal by itself. They wanted to replace the entire sunroof to the tune of $1000. I used waterproof jb weld to fill in the gap between the seam, and its been holding for over 3 years.

Nah, it's a plastic handle/lever that is supposed to be used to open/close the sunroof that won't hold anymore - leaves a thin gap between the glass and seal because it's not being drawn down tight against the seal.

Found several kits online the same size as the sunroof it has, so I'll probably just buy a new one and install it myself...... still kinda pricey at around $250 shipped......

Had a friend commit suicide last night after a barrage of F.B. postings attacking his credibility and intentions. Trial on F.B. by his peers who didn't have any real facts...... Ugly things said, threats....... absolute juvenile B.S.

Yeah, the guy got into trouble. Made some poor decisions. Possibly being accused of much more than he was responsible for.

A buddy called me this morning to tell me about his death and all about the F.B. crap.

SO glad I don't participate in that F.B. juvenile B.S.

sorry about your friend..... i just dont see how people take it so far.
there is a delete account button. there is an un-friend button.
i dont see how people get so upset over FB that they commit suicide.
if you cant handle criticism and harsh words, you probably should not be on the internet period.
you have the power to talk to and be friends with who you want.
if you are going to say phuck facebook, you may as well say phuck the internet all around.

I hear ya Cody...... I was more just venting (as the thread title suggests).

But the difference is that F.B. is a free for all. Forums like naxja are moderated, keeping personal attacks to a minimum.

Yeah yeah, nothing in this life is fair....... free speech blah-blah-blah...... whatever. I suppose I can't really blame Facebook and in a way I didn't place all the blame there. I'm well aware it's the responsibility of the folks that use F.B. to be human, compassionate and reasonable.

I just think that too many tragedies have been facilitated by F.B. and social networking sites similar to it. And it really irks me that people are getting super rich for having created such a monster.

I've walked into a teenager's room where a mother found their child hanging in the closet...... the child's phone laying beside him with the F.B. website open and hateful postings just stacking up.......

This is just my opinion...... nothing else.

Troy, FB, in spite of all of their other problems, really isn't the problem in this case. The problem is society, and lack of personal responsibility and/or personal accountability. It's very easy to spout crap from behind a blind screen that wouldn't get said face to face.
