This Morning I called the S.B.D Forestry Service and asked what was really going on with Cleg. According to the Foresty Service is that they are cracking down on people who do not have the proper identification of their vehicles and that are using theyre red sticker vehichles. As of right now all the side passages and sid routes(notch)(pucker hill etc..) yes are closed down for assessment of these side passages. Te forestry service is holding a meeting with many groups like land management, wildlife, enivronmentalist and 4wheelers to assess cleghorn. The Forestry service is trying to pass these side trails as open and legal only under proper assessment. Action is being taken all of a sudden because of people getting hurt on these trails trying to be newly created and trying to sue the Forestry department. If you would like to call for yourself for more clairification here's the number (909)382-2850 (lytle creek station). I hope this somewhat makes sense.:compwork:

Good footwork, man. The best off-road enthusiasts are INFORMED ones, and it is nice to see that some of us take the extra time to see what the actual deal is. Yes, creating your own "experimental" lines on Cleg or any other trail is not only dangerous and environmentally unfriendly, it is also the reason trails get shut down forever.

Trailblazing is one thing, being a clown is quite another! :)

haha no problem, i wanted to see what the real deal was and to keep everyone informed so hoping by the end of the year, coming near, we should be able to still run the notch and the guidelines of wildlife being jeapordized, the land and as well as ourselves. Hopefully everything can be pulled together and the trail will be open for wheeling.:peace:

This predates that guy Ben, this has been going on for about 3 years now.

Yea I was there also today, lots of people out there. We only saw one ranger all day and he didn't do anything. I'm not sure but almost positive we did the notch. But "pucker hill" was the only one that I saw to be closed. It was a shame that more people didn't come, but had a blast doin it. The highlights had to be that an xj got hydrolocked in the creek and a little work and back to life, or when ted had a little wheel de-beading in the mud haha.

its a dam area that is part of the mojave river which is dry so its super soft river sand the dam is always flowing so theres always water and recently they excavated all the sand and mud out of the passage thru the dam. its not mud like clay mud its a soft mix mud and sand and a little rock climb on the side of the damn too all man made. however it has been closed off and claimed as u.s. government land so u take the risk of tickets.

Trails/Area: 2N47 Cleghorn Ridge Trail
Rating: Difficult

A group of 5 Jeeps meet today at Cleghorn and the 15 Fwy to run Cleghorn Ridge Trail 2N47. Mitch (great88), Clay (TJClay), Lee with sons Harry and Tyler (YJ), Jason (Calfireguy), Ron and his son (Unlimited). We aired down and I led the run up the switch backs to the good stuff! We took the fist bypass trail and crawled up the moguls and climbs till the trail met up with the regular road. Waiting and the bottom of the by-pass was a pair of gentleman from the SBNF ORV Volunteers and their official truck. They told me that we were on an illegal trail and asked if we would please wait till the ranger arrived. I said that would be no problem and remained friendly and we all had a good discussion with the Volunteers. About 10 minutes later ranger "Kathy Pratt" arrived and privately got the details from the volunteers. When Ranger Kathy approached, she explained that only the main dirt road was open for vehilcle travel and that any other trail was illegal for use. I did carefully explain the fact that we had trash bags and actively picked up trash on the trail, that we volunteered time with BLM at both Calico and El Mirage, as well as AAT efforts with SBNF and others. She liked the fact that we cared, and admitted a lack of ANY SIGNAGE designating the trail from side trails. She asked for our co-operation and thanked us for hepling keep the trail clean, and went on her way. The volunteers said that any attitude would have been met with sitations and that she has been giving them out. He also thanked us and said have a safe day.

I've been saying for two years that only the main dirt road was open, kids here don't want to listen.

well its all good ill find another spot to wheel and let the rangers get everyone else. and u say that as we are a bunch of punk kids looking to go destroy property when in fact i go out and clean the crap off the trails like the big bear trail that i was the only one to show up at. i still ran the trail and i believe karistic was able to get time for that so dont think im out trying to make them close down the trail. cause us kids were not the only ones out there im pretty sure the guys in the rented wranglers trying to climb the powerline hills were more of a problem.
