The Blue Wolf Blog

Ha, that's funny. My wife has a coworker who ran Slickrock this weekend and he said someone broke a D35, with a Detroit, on 35s, without a spare. Then the guy had to ride in a Toyota up to Reno to get a spare shaft.

That was me. Who was the co-worker? If it was one of those Hummer drivers can I get some contact info. They helped a lot! Yes thats right hummer drivers! Those guys kept me calm when i had some drunk idiot yelling at me and about 1000 other people telling me what to do.

Should have a picture up relatively soon.

who was the kid in reno wit the tj with 4.88s and the 4:1? i thought that was conner?

At least you were on the right line. Glad you got it fixed and back home.

Also a good example why it is better to lock the front before the rear.

I wanted to try it in 2wheel. Plus I didn't want to lock a dana 30 with stock shafts when the tires were turned. That's asking for another shaft to break. So once they got straight I locked em.

if you have them both locked up you wont be putting as much stress on on the one locked axle at the same time since you will have traction at all 4 corners, plus getting some pull up the steps at SR helps a ton. lock up the 30 and hit that thing straight.

I did lock up the 30. And I have the shaft in my Jeep back at home. I stole my moms toyota for the week :eyes: Im lovin the good gas mileage.

Ill be home this sunday and ill take a picture of the shaft as well as my new 8.8 =)

for your viewing pleasure.. The broken Dana 35 shaft... The splined part was in a thousand pieces.

Well its been a while since ive updated this thread. So here ya go!
2 days after i got the 8.8 in i ran the Rubicon. Started it with Mike. Camped at the bottom of lil sluice and partied. On the way up to the Con i got a call from a sat phone. It was Alboyxj calling me cause he broke a leaf pack. So i called Varozza 4x4 Outfitters to see if they had one so i didnt have to go home and take mine off the cherokee. Surprisingly they had a set. Awesome people i highly suggest dealing with them. So saturday morning when we left spider to go to buck where Alan was, Mike had problems and had to turn around. I continued with Rob and we headed down to buck.. Thats when the pictures started:
