I'm paranoid it's going to be the head gasket but I'm not having an issue with missing coolant.
Anyway, it's a 99 Venture. The temp gauge will jump around a lot. It's never gone above half way but it will go up and instantly drop down etc. It seems to do it more while idling. I did take a 2 hour trip the other day and I got a CEL, the van would not run correctly until I cleared it. I had no way to check the code so I just reset the computer and I have not had the CEL since.
So I'm thinking either the temp sending unit is bad and threw a false code or the engine really did overheat and the sending unit didn't allow the gauge to show it.
Any thoughts?
