My brother and I are going up to Dinky Creek of opening day of trout season (the last weekend of April) and we want to run Swamp Lake trail. Does anyone know what the weather is like up there? Will snow be an issue? Any suggestions about what other trails might be open if Swamp Lake is closed?

I was just up at Shaver Lake yesterday, theres currently about four to five feet of snow, probably a foot or two more at Dinkey. The Swamp Lake trail wont open tell all the snow is melted, which is usually around May. Bald Mountain trail, just south of Swamp Lake is open year round. You can also call the Forest Service in Prather when it gets closer to the end of April and they can let you know what trials are open. I/m up there once a week and I'll post again when it gets closer to let you know

We are going to leave Santa Cruz early (April 23rd) and we are going home that Sunday the 27th. Since fishing opens Sat. we are going wheeling Thursday and Friday. Anyone who wants to join us would be more then welcome. That's if you could stand looking at my brothers Sami since that's the rig we will be taking this trip.

Well plans changed, I'm taking my jeep and rocking it 2wd. I have not had time to put in the trany yet. I was woundering how the weather is up there right now? I have looked at the web cam at Shaver lake and see a little snow but it's not a good indicater.

Went up to Shaver last night and the weather is still a little bit cool, real cold at night still. The snow is patchy, no snow at all in areas where its open and sunny and around four feet of snow in some areas with shade. Just depends upon exactly where your at and your elevation. Hope this helps.
