Suggestions for some new mods $1k +/-

Coming from someone that actually builds winches day in, day out..

Your chinese purchase, Is insulting.

Thanks.
not gona get into that, but thanks for the post.
He obviously bought the Synthetic rope version of the winch.

You'll like the Spectre kit. I installed the same one this summer!
thank you. i know i prob wont notice much improvement, but for a CAI, i think it's the best one, and i want to add a second battery.

did you get the cowl induction spectre intake?

on another note do you have any reviews on D&C DIY cages...not having access to a good pipe bender but having a welder i'd like to give it a shot...some homework says its a small shop and haveing had mixed reviews...since you live close do you have any consumer feedback?

oh and if you want to keep you stock bumper get the backbone!!! idk if you mentioned it before buttalk to detours...awesome guy...and really good stuff

yes, i got the cowl induction intake.

ive read of many guys locally run that kit, and they like it as a base kit. most have added some gusseting. i have not called the shop yet, but as you found, i also found some mixed reviews about not shipping all the parts together, or taking long to ship. as far as quality though, ive heard good stuff. the guy who bought my old '95 xj, put one of those cages in. i got to see it in person, and i really liked it.

on the bumper, i'm going to go aftermarket. worries me to crush the stock bumper.

alright thanks for the feedback!!!before I go lurking around the big web...know of any other DIY cages? I'd like to do that project it would be pretty fun...and gussets are already going in judging by the pictures I did not see any..

nooo cheap is not my criteria when it comes to anything on this xj...i like the build it right the first time..instead of go back and do it again, especially with a roll cage...what is in my criteria is a DIY kit that is already pre bent...not having a bender or experience with one is my problem, but knowing my way around a welder is what I do have and can help me...I like the D&C kit but I was looking for other company's that have roll cages..I'll keep looking around see if I can find anymore with better feedback than D&C

The previous owner of our Cherokee installed the T&J Performance pre-bent cage kit, which did not provide enough head room for pre-running in our 1995 XJ. On several occasions, over the course of two race seasons, passengers hit their heads. It was bad enough that we had our race shop fabricate a custom rolled cage to better meet our needs. Once started, it took approximately 10 days to complete the main structure.

Here's all the video I was able to capture before my iPhone's beta iOS expired untimely, as I was away from my MacBook Pro to upgrade.

1 post and you decide to make it a back door brag?

So now you have a cage with no triangulation for 'pre-running'? That's dumb...

Also, your video is dumb... 7 minutes of welding.... Who gives a ****?

Apologies, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I should have quoted the original poster's "cage (internal ?)" idea. My bad. After re-reading this thread, I decided to share my misfortune of redoing my internal cage. In hopes someone may be in a similar situation and maybe wondering about internal cage and which way to go. Perhaps save them some money :). I thought the original owner of my Cherokee did a great job building it up, and originally was attracted to the cage work being already done. However, after using it for a couple years I finally determined that the old cage just didn't meet our needs. I certainly didn't mean to brag about something that we've done vs. what someone else has done. I don't subscribe to one size fits all. I do understand that it just depends on your own specific needs.

Again, apologies if I offended anyone.

It looks like the original poster is well on their way. I wish them the very best.

Yes, we use our Cherokee to pre-run the courses the day before the race. SNORE calls it a fun run, which is limited to 35mph. Our Cherokee has served us well over the years. We go out of our way for safety on race weekends.

Apologies for the lame video.

I don't seem to be able to edit or delete my post.

Moderators please do feel free to delete my posts, as I do not wish to attract negativity to the original poster's thread.

meh, don't worry about, they were a little harsh on you, especially as a newb! Brush it off and stay on the site, lots of good info here!

Thank you. I re-read my post and realize now that my brevity was a bad choice, as I sit here and watch over our newly born son as mom tends to feeding our two girls. He's so cute, it's distracting :)

Great site!!!
