does anyone have some pix or know of where i can find an enclosure that mounts in the rear side panels? i want to get rid of my box, and place my 12"s in the side panels or the tailgate...
check out crutchfild.com you'll only be able to run one ten though. also check the mod. tec. forum under subwooofer there was a discussion there the other day on custom box's you might find more to your likeing.
The tailgate is not a good place for subs, too much weight getting thrown around when you open and close the hatch. JL does make a pre-fab box for the cherokee, or you could have one made if you actually wanted a little more thump... i have a half-made box for my pass. rear panel in the cargo area that was for a 12". Depending on where you are,i might be able to help you out, but i can't check out you're info until i finish this post. I make fiberglass enclosures, etc...
Okay, so you have a 98'... but you're too far away for me to help directly. Do you want multipe 12's? I might be putting 4 in my xj, it depends when it comes down to build time, and i have to decide wether i want to give up cargo room on both sides for 4, or just do one side for a pair of 12's which would also save me space since whith the 4 12's my system will have 8 amps, so with 2 i will have 6 amps giving me more room somewhere else too... anyways, coming back from my tangent, If you would like, i could build you a box using my 2000 out of fiberglass then pull it outand send it to you... of course it'll cost you some $$ for my time, but you'll get a good deal, i can even get you caos on subs if you want new ones...
woops, yeah thats what i meant. the rear cargo area. i wanted to run a 10-12 in both sides. any price estimate how much that would cost? would this be bolt in?
to save some space, you'd be better to have both subs on the same side... not surer on what it would cost, but it wouldn't necessarily be cheap, depending if you want fiberglass, or just a carpeted MDF box... on the passenger side, the box can go into the panel a little bit, but the driver side has the gas filler tube, so there's no was to get useable space out of it... i would design it to be drop in....i could either have it drop in outside the panel that's already there, or fiberglass into the space to give you more cargo area, and this piece would come up and cover the metal to the window- completely eliminating the plastic cover that's back there now. I'd probably charge somewhere in the order of $20/hour plus materials, which is a great deal since my shop gets paid $100/hour for custom fiberglass work. if this sounds like something you'd like to talk about just let me know, we can discuss this stuff over the phone and it might be slightly more productive.
