Subwoofer and 6x9's in same box??

I was wondering about having the 6x9's and an 8 or 10 in the same box. Space is short with having a lot of gear and there is only a sound bar now. I have Pioneer 150w 6x9 and will pick up a sub next week. Has anyone used the one box for all set up?

As long as you isolate the subs airspace from the 6x9s airspace you should be fine. Your 6x9s will not like being manhandled by the subwoofer.

The air mass moved by the subwoofers will cause the cones of the 6x9s to be pushed and therefore cause massive distortion and some cancellation. You have to separate the air chambers for speakers of unequal cone travel

Exactly what I thought! I was just testing you. Run separate boxes...I got it. I'm just a stereo newbie/:looser: . Can the 6x9 boxes touch the sub box or not?

You can make a large single box with separate compartments. So in other words, yes, the boxes can touch each other. If the separate compartments are acoustically sealed (glued and then have the seams caulked), even better...

What I did is put two 6x9 in a 6x9 box and screwed them to my sub box, I put them on the outer side angled in so you kind of get a surround sound, with 41/2s in a box under the front seats on the side, and replace the stock front with some infinity 3" with tweeters, oh and just in case you were wondering I have two kicker comps with mtx amp, they are bridge.

Why not just get good door speakers and put some tweeters in the doors in the factory location. I have JL audio coaxils in the doors along with OE tweeters along with a 12w7 in the back and I have more than enough treble and bass, plus my highs are right next to me. Another nice thing about the tweeters is that they don't get muffled when you more your knee towards the door due to their high location. The tweeters sound great. Good luck

I addressed this same thing in a set of boxes I made for my buddy's Bronco:

Seperate sealed inclosures, forward-facing 6x9s, and the subs faced each other in the rear cargo area. Subs have exactly the cubic volume they needed (I designed the boxes with CAD stuff, I'm a nerd like that). With proper tuning of the amps and crossover they totally kicked ass.
