Stupid CHP

LMAO that you gave that example and didn't say, "I'm putting flaps on my Jeep before I break some poor bastard's windshield!" :laugh2:

Oh, and you're getting ripped off w/ your RV... the place I worked at did them in 2hrs and the glass cost < $1,200 on average.

Billy

So you get brand new windshield that wrap around the corner for this price? Send me the addy for this place if you could.. My last motorhome i could just do right or left hand glass, that was 1200 for one side..

Most of the window chips ive had is from you motorhome jackasses who cant keep your heeps on the road and kicking up the rocks on the shoulder into my window. Dont just blame the lifted rigs with off road tires, you guys are guilty of it too.

So true.. but i drive in my lane.. so i guess this doesn't fit me... But since you think i'm a jack ass, you know what i think of you right....:kissyou:.....Have a great day

When I was pulled over, the cop said that if the axle is below the rear bumper, than you need them. Doesn't make sense to me considering most trucks come from the factory that way. I wonder how big they want the mud flaps to be also, maybe I can put some super small ones on lol.

Does anyone know how the law is actually written?
Coverage,height,close to ground?

Here it is. Like I stated before no measurements at all:dunno:

CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE
:: SECTION 27600-27607 California vehicle codes index

27600. No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or
more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with
fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or
unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate
protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or
mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or
attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread.
This section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from
registration, trailers and semitrailers having an unladen weight of
under 1,500 pounds, or any vehicles manufactured and first registered
prior to January 1, 1971, having an unladen weight of under 1,500
pounds.

He's just butt hurt because he has a trailer Queen for a Jeep.

My Green Junk has been on a trailer like 5 times that I know of, it's usually on the street looking just like this...what are you guys doing to catch so much flak, tailgating a schoolbus full of nuns at 80 MPH?

Letting the wife drive

Here's the deal. ANY citation written by CHP, PD or SO goes to the county that citation was written in. Secondly, citations are written by officers, (read people) and that officer is NOT an example of the mass.

I wrote gridlock tickets ALL DAY LONG, because it pisses me off. It had nothing to do, with a toaster oven, me having a bad day, my Sgt telling me that I needed to write tickets. It has nothing to do with revenue, me not liking you, or not liking your car. The law is the law.

Yes the CVC is vague, there is a reason for that. It is so the law can be interpreted. If you write it in black and white then there is no wiggle room and then you would gripe that it's too strict.

As far as mud flaps, and flares are concerned...comparing them to each other is like saying the windshield and the back window do the same thing. Mud flaps are for rearward facing objects and spray. Flares are for forward thrown and vertically thrown objects.

"If there is more than one inch of tread exposed to the side then flares are required. If more than 75% of the tire height is exposed to the rear then flaps are required." That came straight from Cal LEGAL informational Legal update.

Lastly, the laws are written in conjunction with NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Ass.). Believe it or not, these laws are not written with you personally in mind, you are not that important.

Just for info. I responded to a fatal, where a MC layed it over when a rock was kicked up in his face. This would have been prevented if the guy had working flaps. Not just rubber floor mats hanging off the back.

I am sorry and I am not trying to slam anyone. But for my entire career, I got called every name in the book for enforcing the laws that protect other people. I get tired of hearing about dickhead cops this and that, or F-in CHP's. You know what, THESE dickheads are the same DICKHEADS you call, when you are hiding under your bed because there is a threat outside.

Yes there is some A-holes out there, but most of us are here for YOU, and yes to me YOU are that important. YOU ARE WORTH MY LIFE. I've laid it down for people I've never met and yet I still get called names for writting a ticket.

What is it going to take to get you people to move out of that state?

Pretty soon they'll outlaw sex! Well heterosexual sex anyway. :roflmao:
