Sorry but the cost of stroking is just going nuts. Good USED drop-in cranks are a thing of the past and low milage blocks are getting hard to find.
You are correct. However a company should be coming out with an after market crank for around $300 soon.. but I don't know what company.

How much do you think you can get the FI going for? When I totalled it up a while back I was looking at more than a grand once I got a turbo, figured out how to mount it, got the correct tubing to run for the intake and exhaust, thermal protected or moved the sensitive items in the bay, bought some sort of standalone fuel and timing system, upgraded the fuel system, ect. Then I have to factor in my time. The stroker only cost me $1200 running out the door, with some extra stuff replaced.

For rock crawling I would go stroker all the way.

I like FI, I have been planning an Eaton blower for my cherokee for a while. One of those things that might happen after I get out of training.

I was thinking a centrifugal supercharger if I ever do it.

The turbo build would be pure Jy and home made plumbing. Turbo = 49$
The cost would be in fuel management mainly.

Watch out with the junkyard turbos, around here they pull them off before they send the car out into the yard if they are worth anything. $200 used with a 10 day warranty. I pulled a couple of the ones off they passed into the yard and they were all junk not even worth rebuilding.

I really dont think you can get a decent cheap turbo system. Most of the turbos I find in junkyard you cant even turn the turbine. Both M90s Ive pulled were in better condition though. Still, the trial and error required to not destroy your engine has been enough for me to not go that route yet.

Only cost Ill be in my FI setup is electronics, few bolts, some silicone elbows & adapters, plugs, belt, few other small things. Probably be in it around $800 Im guessing.

SC was basically free(traded a Carter carb and for it), bracketry and tubing free, install free. Just my time so far.

Ill do an LSx before I'd stroke it.

It's only funny to someone who doesn't understand it's importance.

My Jeep is currently boosted, and has been in testing for a couple thousand miles. I havn't posted anything, but that doesn't mean I havn't been working on this project. I'll have a comprehensive build posted soon. I'd like to log more time on the setup before I do however.

But then again, you'll just think I'm messing with you.

I would definitely agree for the most part with swapping in an LSx/LQ truck motor. More HP and TQ out of the box than a stroker. They are really reliable, you can throw Forced Ind. at them as well if you so choose. I know mileage is not a concern of most, but power/weight and mileage ratio would most likely be better than a stroker. For example if you were to toss in a LQ4/9 or LS2 thats 400hp out of the box. And the truck motors are very plentiful.

Why not?

I can get a 5.3, w/ harness, trans, ect.. Basically complete, for about $1800. Seen them go for cheaper with low miles. It'll be lighter, have more power stock, and sound better. Simple upgrades can easily put the power level well above a FI'd stroker.

Maybe Frank Z will chime in about it.

what trans/tcase would you get at that price?
