Strawberry Pass Oct 24...anyone?

I'm heading to SP on Sunday, Oct 24 with some friends. Will probably meet up at the Placerville McDonalds on Hwy 50 at 0900. Firm details to follow.

Might be a nice Fall run before the rains start.

Well, if your tires are on a limb, you're probably wheeling wrong...

SP is fairly tame but a nice trail. The one good spot has a bypass if you fear damage or breakage, but the other hardish spots have been eliminated recently. There's a bunch of info on the forum and that was one trail that some members ran during the 2010 Sierra Fest.

I've run SP with a stock KJ before and although annoying, it was manageable. My XJ with 33"s offered no challenge, but I like the trail and Fall colors should be amazing. I'm wanting to run this from Hwy 50 to the overlook, have lunch, then run back to Hwy 50 and head home.

good chance i will go. Its close for me, and I could use a good outing with the family and naxja. Think its too rough for a 2 month old to ride?

I'd worry more about the dust and crap blowing around. There are plenty of rocks to bounce on but the dust can get bad in spots this late in the year and that's no fun for anyone with tiny nostrils, but you could always run those sections with the windows up and the AC cranked. As for the rocks, just add some Bilsteins to the baby seat.

Edit: The "Painted Rock" obstacle in the link posted below by Josh has been cleared. There really are no tough obstacles on the trail for anyone with 31" or taller tires. In fact, the smaller the tire, the more fun, especially if you have skids and rocker protection. :)

I'm in. See you all there

I am thinking of meeting you guys. I will see how my week go's.

Cool. I have a couple of YJ guys coming as well. I'd like to get on the trail by about 10 am. Hopefully the weather will hold up.

Where you going to start at the north or south trail head?

A bunch of us will enter the trail head on Hwy 50 at mile 42. I figure we'll drive to the outlook or a bit beyond, then turn around and head back to Hwy 50.

What time do you plan on being back to Rocklin?

Weather is forecasted to be rain all day in South Lake

Yeah, that sucks. A few of the YJ guys that want to go have no doors and I'd bet they will bail if the weather does not hold up. I'd still like to go and play in the wet stuff.

Schedule is flexy. Could hit the trail at 10 (or even 9 if anyone wants an earlier start). Could be back in Whoville in early afternoon, but I plan to stop in Placerville for some Mexican food for dinner if the wife comes along.

I'm in, along with my buddy in his Unlimited. Schedule is flexible for me. Rain doesn't hurt my feelings much. I would be cool with a 8am and Mc D's.

8:00 at McD's it is. If we leave there no later than 8:15, we can hit the trail head by 9:00 and wait for anyone else there as we air down.

Firm plans: 8:00 at McDonalds in Placerville. Strawberry Pass trail head at 9:00. Rain or shine. Hope to see you guys there.

lookin real good for me. Should get a chance to try out my lockers. I know it isnt a hard trail but it beats the back yard :yelclap:

I hear ya. I'd like to test out my new winch, even though I doubt anyone will get stuck (well...maybe a YJ). I should be getting my 4 gauge QDs in the mail today and I'll have that sucker wired up and ready to test.

we still doing this? is the plan 0800 at mc d's in pville still 0900 at the trail head? Im not 100% sure where the trail head is and i dont have gps so i will need to follow someone who has been there. Might have a buddy comin with his XJ also.

cool see you there
