Funny this thread popped up.I have been stocking my jeep also.Look for my thread called "started my rear storage"once I get it done it will house all the stuff listed below plus some and still have a fully available cargo area for cargo.
Also add these if you haven't already.
**SPARE CPS!!!
**alternator and belt
**starter
**fuel pump
**ignition switch
**power steering hoses
If you wheel alone these items are mandatory!!!
Besides what was already mentioned:
Repair manual.
leaf spring center pins
hose clamps, muffler clamps.I once repaired A buddies chevy that had a broken steering shaft with a muffler clamp....got him off the trail.
Gas tank repair epoxy.
hand cleaner and paper towels
Silicone and other "liquid" tools.
emergency gasoline
ratchet straps
small compressor to fill tires after you plug them(you did bring the tire plugs, right?)
tarp for when you have to crawl under your rig for repairs in the mud
trash bags can be used to drain fluids into, double or even triple bag so they don't leak
radiator hose repair kit.Bottle of stop leak.Coolant.
Brake fluid. If you break a rubber line you can twist the steel line shut with vise grips.
various lengths of electrical wire.I bought a cheap extension cord for a couple bucks and use the wire from that in an emergency. Can be cut to fit.
Mess kit, canned food with easy open top.Beef jerky has a long shelf life.Trail mix.
survival kit.I keep a back pack stocked with LED flashlight, poncho, knife, food, water and purification tabs and a Small survival guide.A small amount of tin foil to form a container to cook in.Water proof matches and my homebrew fire starter(see below)
About the firestarter....I use empty skoal cans filled with a few cotton balls drenched in alcohol based hand sanitizer.Take the top off, light it and put the whole can under some tender, even after the cotton ball/alcohol is used up the plastic can will start to burn assuring you a fire even in wet conditions.
OH,and don't forget the ASS PAPER!!!!Pine cones are bullshit!!!
I can't beleive nobody mentioned bug spray either!!
A Hi-lift is my only jack. They can be dangerous if you try to lift your rig up high enough for the suspension to unload and lift the tire(especially if you have a flexy rig)Use a ratchet strap wrapped around the axle and frame to keep it from articulating.
This is where my hi-lift and fire extinguisher live:
Keep a bottle of wild turkey in the glove box incase you forgot the toilet paper and have to resort to the pine cones.hahahaha
