Hey man, just curious, but did you have a heat shield between your tank and your exhaust pipe? I'm trying to install a skid right now and the shield is being a total pain. Thanks.

I don't think I did. There used to be one above the muffler, but it self clearanced a long time back. I don't recall one between the exhaust and tank though. Post up a picture if you want!

I don't have a heat shield on my 99 with factory skid. I think it was only used if no skid installed.

My 2000 had the shield stock without the skid. The heat shield comes off when you install the skid.

I found a way to trim the shield and fit it on with the skid.

Why would you even bother doing that? The skid acts as a better heat shield than the original one.
