blaupunkt aren't bad got one myself. And PROPS to your dad for actually owning a real porsche.... the question still remains why your driving a cherokee and not the 911?
Im a little too young to be driving Daddy's 911. Besides pretty much all the days he has it out he just washes or waxes it.HA.Now the real question is not why Im driving a Cherokee but such a crappy one.
Heh... I'm a Metallica/STP/AiC/Soundgarden type of music fan, and still enjoy the good thump from a single 12" to reproduce a good bass drum hit... :spin1:
I can add a recommendation for Polk. My '00 has Polk EX series all around (I think they're 6.5" in the doors on a 97+, and 5.25 in the rear). And they're the third set of Polks I've had experience with. My next upgrade is a better aftermarket head unit (to replace my current 1997-vintage cheapie Sony transplanted from a prior vehicle)... then look into a conversion to larger rear speakers... or maybe a small sub.
NOOOO please don't go with "blau-puked" as they are often refered to in higher-end stereo shops. They're cheap, if that's what you want go for it... but if you're looking for quality by any means do not go with Blaupunkt. I am a stereo snob so i'll just give you my thoughts... Eclipse...amazing sound reproduction, so-so user-friendliness, limited bells and whistles. Alpine... Great sound reproduction(not as good as Eclipse), useful bells and whistles, very user-friendly. Those are the only 2 that i will buy... i prefer Alpine due to it's extensive line of electronics that can be tied in flawlessly and easily to the system (ie:Navigation, Sound Processor, diversity tv tuner, blah blah...more than what the average user needs. There a\re many other companies out there that will work well also, i would prefer to stear you away from Blaupunkt... someone else may have other thoughts, if so listen to all sides then make your decision... this is just my preference.
Eclipse makes a pretty decent head unit, and I would have to agree with that recomendation. But you have to remember most of their line will be considered rather clostly to most jeep guys. Most jeep guys would rather dump their spare funds into other items on their rigs. IF you are really looking for quality consider the eclipse or a nakamichi or higher end panasonic.
To give you an idea of what I have in my daily driver jeep....
head unit: Nakamichi cd-400
front setup: CDT Audio 3way - 6"midbass in the door, 4"mid and tweet in the kicks
front amp: PPI Art series A300
sub: RE XXX 12"
sub amp: Arc Audio 2500
no. New stuff SUCKS ! It is now made in malaysia. I got an older deck, that is good. Wouldn't by the new stuff. If I was going to go with a quailty deck, not for looks ( i.e. pretty led's ) I 'd go apline.
I like Kenwood. I killed one with dust in AZ (it was in a Geo Tracker, lots of dust all the time) and replaced it with a more expensive model. They are a lot less picky with what CDs they will and won't read than other brands
