Still having problems with coolant guys

The 3 jeeps ago I bought one from a dude refering to the bottle as an overflow. He never filled it because he thought it was an overflow and he had overheating problems.

That bottle is not an overflow!
unhook your top rad hose at the tstat and fill it all the till it comes out of the hose. put it on quickly of course some will spill but hold as much as you can.

When burping it helps to squeeze the top rad hose.
With a prestone flush kit you can hook a garden hose up to it and crank it up. that gets all kinds of air out.

lol inform me of the screw driver business cuz im lost. my 1990 was upgraded to open system befor i got it i understand what all was changed but i have yet to actually look at a closed system radiator on any of my tons of jy runs. the tard i got it from gave me the old hoses and pressure bottle in a damn ice chest and said they were spare parts... i tossed em in the trash once i realized what they were

One of the first things you were told in this thread was to replace the pressure bottle and cap. These are notorious for failing on a RENIX era XJ. If you had spent the twenty bucks and followed this advice, you would have made forward progress. These parts need to be replaced now! After that you can continue with all the other sound advice you have beeen given.

with the closed system, the screw driver(actually plyers as its a spring clamp) is used to disconnect the hose clamp that holds the top rad hose to the thermo hosing.

from AIbandit, on how to fill the raditor with coolant:

...then i added straight coolant. Not the 50/50 and once it cooled attempted to drive home. It over heated again within 3 block or so maybe 4 and i had to pull over. I let it cool added some orange coolant some guy gave me coolant on full antifreeze n the orange stuff its suppose to be better!!!

anyone else see the problem here. adding orange coolant to green coolant can result in bad things (unless its the stuff that supposedly you can add to any color coolant)

especially when on LSD.

Just any little more about the ride home: after it overheated i pulled over and let it cool down then i added straight coolant. Not the 50/50 and once it cooled attempted to drive home.

Time for a little education. Coolant DOES NOT increase the cooling efficiency of your cooling system. The most efficient fluid to use to dissipate the heat is plain water. However, water will freeze. Freezing water expands. Freezing water in an engine block is a VERY bad thing. Coolant provides the necessary anti-freeze components for prevent the water from freezing.
Plain water also has a negative effect on metal... it causes corrosion and rust. Coolant provides components to inhibit rust and corrosion inside a cooling system.

You don't use pure coolant to make your cooling system work better, you add coolant to water to protect your cooling system.

Capiche?

Hence....ANTIFREEZE! "Coolant" is an over-used term that more and more people are using when referring to antifreeze.

Hey sorry i took so long but everything seems to be going good.
Once i got the jeep to take the antifreeze I was in the clear!
Been testing him driving and he's passing the test, 210 degrees, electric fan kicks on and I stay steady at or around 210 but not over.

Anyway the new rad was hell to get in, really it seems like i'm a little bulky in the front, its even a little hard to close the hood.

other than that i think things went well

A very misunderstood product indeed.

And different brands / different types shouldn't be mixed either.
