sound bar question

i have an 87 cherokee pioneer and the sound system sucks so ive been considering new speakers, amp, subs, etc. but i dont have a soundbar i just have the 2 speakers in the cargo door. is there any way i could order and install one? if so do you know where i could get it?

Go to a local junkyard and get one out of a 96 or older Cherokee. Pull the bracket that it mounts to also and you will just switch that with where your old dome light was. It is a rediculously simple install because all you do is plug the bar in where your old tailgate speakers plugged in behind the drivers side trim back there.

Do a search for sound bar. A while back someone posted that Jeep was doing a clearance on them. IIRC they were selling them for $50 or $60. HTH. JIM.

Hey anyone know what size speakers came in them?
It's just I have a realy good set of 6 1/2" components I wanna put in the truck.
But they don't fit in the doors.

6 1/2" will fit if you file the hole just a little bit larger.

They come with 5.25s but yes, you can make them work. I just had to do some modifications and use the grills that came with my speakers instead of the oem ones.

You can fit 6.5s in the front doors depending in the depth of the speakers. I have Infinity Reference 6002is (6.5") in my front doors and they fit in the stock location with minimal modification. I just had to turn the speakers till it fit right and redrill two of the holes. This is on my 95 but we also fit 6.5s in the front doors of my friend's 99.

If you can stand to waste the space I'd bag the sound bar and put some good boxes somewhere. The factory bar is flimsy, no volume to it and angles the speakers badly..
