We all talk about trail cleanups and not leaving our stuff behind and picking up cans and bottles that we find on the trail but....... what about the butts? Cigarette butts that is. I have noticed something interesting on the trails over the past few years: cigarette smokers are divided into two categories: butt pickers and butt flingers 
The butt pickers usually carry with themselves a small baggy or a bottle that they drop their butts into so that they don't leave them behind. Butt flingers... well... they fling them.
While smoking as itself does not bother me, what bugs me is going on a trail and seeing cigarette butts laying on the ground. What's interesting is that I bet money that most of the butt flingers probably don't think much about it but let me make a comparison: flinging a cigarette butt is like throwing a kleenex out the window on the trail and the latter is definately a big nono, so here's a plea to all the butt flingers: become butt pickers
