We have been taking baby steps for the last 200 years as the entire country moves from almost rightist anarchism to leftist socialism, both parties have moved us in this direction, a bit at a time, step by step.

Which is exactly what the Founding Fathers warned us about. Allowing our leaders to make policy that contradicts or operates outside of the Constitution or in the "gray area" where we allow activist judges to interpet the law as they see it has also allowed the creep towards Socialism......under the current Congress, it has become a sprint.

I fully agree with both. I used to call myself Republican, but now am much more reluctant to tag myself as any particular party. The online quizzes all come back Libertarian though. The only difference I see really between D and R is that one uses "social justice" programs whereas the other uses authoritarian, "security" measures.
 
Agreed... on the political compass I end up slightly to the right of center and skewed toward libertarianism rather than authoritarianism.

I'd probably end up more right-of-center if they didn't ask a lot of questions that I don't find relevant at all, and then not give me an option for "I don't care."

Far enough, there are things you don't like about your country's direction, so let's discuss them. Vilifying your president, or using "communism" (like xjeeper) to drum up fear hardly seems like a sound tactic. I realize allot of people here hate Obama just like allot of other people hated Bush, but I highly doubt either president wanted to destroy America.... and let's face it, communism was a doomed form of government from its very inception. It's dependent on an impossible premise - stripping individuals, completely, of their competitive drive (yeah, good luck with that). That's why Russia failed, that's why North Korea's become the planet's sphincter, and that's why communist China's constantly adopting capitalist concepts to stay alive.

just remember, everyone that is against socialism, when you retire and your SS check comes, please shred/burn but if you burn it, do it safe cause if your house burns down, the socialist firemen will come and try to help you save your house, and while your defending your house from the socialist firemen, the socialist police will come and arrest you, but you won't understand what's going on because you didn't go to school growing up because that's also socialist.

not at all, I can go on and on about the "socialist propaganda" that people rely on and NEED for daily life.

It's the same people that bitch about walmart running the small stores out of business but don't realize that that's exactly what capatalism is about...profit and successful businesses

if people would get off their soap boxes for a minute and stop the bitching they would realize that ALLLLLL forms of government thought processes working together is what makes the US so powerful

Communism is the best form of government, when practiced in a vacuum and in a perfect world (which obviously doesn't exist)

what about all the people that flew flags after 9-11 and screamed USA all day and night (for about a year or so) sound like facism?

don't like Obama? don't vote for him and I'm guessing we'll have another republican president after the next election but guess what, HISTORY has proven that when the country gets rilled up and switches direction completely it doesn't get better...wanna fix it? stop voting for career politians and eliminate lobbiests. I have known well meaning people that have to comprimise their beliefs just to get things done and get votes and that's what's the problem with our system:soapbox:


edit...for a while there were a lot of people on here that didn't have jobs and they were supporting their families while collecting unemployment (socialism) it has always been an integral and important part of what makes the US work

I am a registered independent, I vote for whoever will do the best for the country as a whole, not who will provide the best gun owner protection or allow abortion

it's the democrats pissing on the republican president and vice versa that gets old and IT'S NOT WORKING Hasta

ever since I was young I've had an uncle that said he would vote for a monkey if it was running as a republican and another one that would do the same for democrats. thats the problem

I haven't voted for anyone that has won so far but no matter what I support the president that gets elected because that's what you have to do, I wasn't a fan of either Bush but the latest one admitted that he didn't run saying "vote for me and I can lead the country through this war" and that got my respect people need to stop voting along party lines and focus on what's best for the country even if it's not wholly the best for you

and the army, that's another socialist part of the country...are you saying it should be privately funded like blackwater? that'll turn out swell:clap:
