Mostly between Heart Bar and Angelus Oaks. Almost enough to put it in 4hi with a 231. I had to stop twice to de-ice my wiper blades. Caltrans was just beginning to require chains heading up from Angelus Oaks when i went through.

I passed one accident where someone had pulled off in a turnout, slid on the acumullated snow and hit a car that was already stopped.

What time did you leave? I left camp at around noon on sunday and never saw cal trans. Roads were clear as well.

A little bit off topic, did anyone pick up a white canvas bucket hat after the raffle Saturday night?

I saw it by the edge of the road in front of naxja headquarters sunday morning. Didn't grab it though.

Carnage from Gold Mountain

Heard a clunking on the trail and investigated.
Found this when Mike and I arrived at his house; we removed the arm and I drove back to San Diego.
Trying to get in touch with Dallas at SFR to install a stronger mount.

My buddy plowed through a water crossing and smacked into a rock. Cracked his track bar mount on the axle side.

He's not. He's running what appears to be a Big Bear 3-link. It looks to be superior to the Calico setup.

There were signs of the fire for about the first mile of the trail.

The trail was not scheduled to open until Sunday but the fire crews doing the last of the cleanup let us through after a little convincing.

This guy was chill. He cruised through like he owned the place.

Sunday Morning

Saturday night I had about a dozen excuses to wad up the tent and head for home. So glad I didn't.




Good friends, hot coffee, warm fire and a little shelter from the snow; it just doesn't get better than this.

The morning was hushed.

The plant life got its moment to shine.
