Damn DJ! Give us the background.

So here it is, I'll lay it on you. I was turning the corner, nothing unusual. And then all of a sudden the Jeep dropped and I saw my tire pass me. And to top it off, about 5 minutes later when I was standing there scratching my head; Lone Tree PD passed me in a squad car and kept on drivin'. Don't worry guys, I got it.............

Had you rotated your tires in the few days/weeks? I hope it didn't mess up the brakes or backing plate too bad.

Man and who carries extra lugs? I think I have like two extras maybe, but they sit on my work bench.

it's those BLING rims of yours someone trying to get them and they saw you coming maybe? didn't have time to do anything. Might need to looking into a locking lug? Tell me you had a lift with ya right?

Just think of it as URBAN trail damage. It's no mall curb but Oooooooo man.

LMAO!!! :laugh2: I can only laugh because it's happened to me. It happened in a Ford Ranger though...but funny thing is my lugs were all laying within about a foot of each other too. Know what else is funny...I had a Police officer pass me too...I'm like, yeah, thanks, way to be an a-hole. :twak:

Might be some truth to that. Your rig does sit out all the time and someone may have thought they needed your tires/wheels worse than you did - and then discovered WHAT A TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS those lug nuts are to get to....... :D

But seriously, did the tire do any body damage when it came off? I see the flare got knocked off - no biggie, but what's the lower quarter look like?

How's the lug holes on the wheel? If they're chewed up, you drove on it with loose lugs for a while, if not too bad, then I'd think more along the lines of someone tampering with 'em....... although, we did use a torque wrench when we put that D35 under there. All the other lugs tight?

:scared:

Hope you're alright dude. To think of that happening is scary.

How far did you slide? I can see the mark on the road.

What's the damage?

It looks like he removed all his flares. It doesn't look like there was any body damage.

LOL - uh, yeah thanks Bruce but I know his rig - he's had the front flare off for a while...... the rear one is normally on there - hence the reason for my question.

Thanks for playing! :D

All of the paint on my rear endcap is now chewed off, and those that know me are well aware that that minor detail would piss me off the most. And there is a nice wave goin' in my rear quarter now. The brake backing plate is bent up a good bit from the Jeep pretty much landing on it. After I got it all back together and on the road, something was obviously rubbing on that side now. My guess is drum/backing plate contact, but I'll have to tear it apart to see whats going on. Of course I can't do that now since I gave my garage back to the complex, and got rid of most of my tools!

The holes were not chewed up except for when the wheel came off. So I do not suspect they were loose for any length of time, and all of the other lugs were solid on all 3 wheels. I actually felt the shimmy randomly start, coming down I-25. Drove fine to work last night, and fine over to Village Inn for breakfast. The shimmy happened on the way home from breakfast. I was off the highway all of 3 minutes when this happened. Even though I didn't have any kind of speed when this happened I was at the top of a small hill and had to walk 1/4 of a mile to retrieve my tire.

Nice flex! Good job on not losing the axle. I didn't do so well on my ol Ford, got to see the tire sticking waaaaay out as I was driving I-25, then sparks. I had to replace an axle and bearing/seal, backing plate, had an excuse to finally do the rear brakes.

I'm glad you are OK. I have extra backing plates, let me know by early am Sat.

If it was one of their H3s they probably had Jeep envy... LOL

Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't a front wheel...

Glad you're ok.

Later,
Joe

I imagine you've been burning up the phones trying to get a quote on new paint job at this point....sorry to hear about the body damage, but glad you're okay.
