So my 21st B-day is one month from today...

So I had a drinking phase in High School, but that was mostly crappy beer and vodka... Since then I've only drank on a few occasions out of respect for the law...

So far my mixed drink of choice is Malibu coconut rum and Coke, and my beer of choice is Sierra Nevada Wheat Beer (I like it better than their Pale Ale). However these come from a very short list of what I have tried.


So when I turn 21 I'm gonna stock up with a few bottles, a few things to mix, and a few different kinds of beers. So I request of all you more experienced drinkers advice on your favorites?
 
Okay, Malibu Barbie, here's my preferences:

I love a spicy Bloody Mary. One of the few drinks that are socially acceptable with breakfast. I also like a good margarita with mexican food or grilled meat. Pina Coladas are nice for dessert.

I mainly stick to light beers, so I'm not much of an expert in that area, but Dirk Pitt & Lesslimited make some fine home brew. :cheers:

BTW, I had you pegged as older than 21... take that for what its worth.
 
I also like a good bloody mary every now and then. I stick mainly to beer though. I like the taste of beer over a mixed drink. Bud Light is the choice for me on taste. I like Spotted Cow draft beer but it is hard to find and pricey. I have sampled alot of different beer in the past few years and like Bud Light over most.

Guinness, Guinness, Guinness.

Vodka (Personally I drink Absolute) and Cranberry juice. Cape cods are easy to drink and easier to mix.
 
Rye whisky - straight up. Gotta watch the girlish figure ya know.

If you are feeling particularly "weak" that day, throw in an ice cube or two.

Go to a bar and have a few long island Ice teas..

They taste like shit everytime I make them at home but at the bar they're usually good and strong..

Ask for a red head slut.. good sweet finsh the night off shots..

Vodka Redbull.. Absolute.. sky... anything but mccormicks and Skol...IK..

I'm a big tequila fan... get a bottle.. limes... salt and do shots... good stuff..

I hate Jose Cuervo... Get some Sauza "HORTINOS" Green Label.. Very clear stuff.. goes down smooth without too much ... ow that's gonna burn type feel..

also get club soda... grenadine and large shot glasses for the ladies... (also you it's tasty stuff..) Half a shot of Tequila, Half a shot of club soda and some grenadine... take aclean rag.. put it on top .. smack the glass on the table/bar and slam it... fizzy sweet gets you drunk quick

Wine.. I like Cheteau ST Jean 12.99 a bottle... common California wine... tasty.. very happy drunk.. it's white wine without too much bite.. good with fish.

Pete's wicked Ale Strberry blonde

You need a Mickey's 40oz for sure... drink it out of the paper bag..

Whiskey

Bulliet --- This stuff is short run.. soemtimes hard to find.. but better liquor stores will still have it... my personal favorite in a whiskey and coke or whatever.. smooth enough to sip on the riocks... about the same price as Jack Daniels and only a little more than Jim beam.. The mix of sweet to charcol is a bit in between the two with beam being the sweet tooth and jack tasting like coal dust (IMO) Orange label.. looks like a postage stamp... cork on top..

Rum

Don't even bother with Bacadi.. sick sick sick.. I use that crap to clean my bumpers with..

You want captain morgans private reserve.. a little sweet.. same alchohol.. way worth it..

Malibu is really some pretty weak stuff bro.. I like my drinks sweet but I also like to actually catch a buzz... youll like the captains "PRIVATE RESERVE" there is a difference between that and the others trust me..

I don't like Gin... but it goes alright with Pinapple/orange juice... mixed weak.. The only gin I can stand is seagrams 7... and that's borderline.

Margauritas ROCK.... Get a recipie for blue ones and go to town!

thanks man, some good advice there. I forgot about Long Island Ice Teas, I've had a few of those at weddings and they were pretty good! Also, Malibu may be weak, I really don't know how it stacks up against other rums, but I was mixing it about 50/50, then later I looked it up online and found out it's supposed to be about 75/25 :laugh3: oh well, I liked it at 50/50 so I'll stick with that.
 
I just drink microbrew around the house. When I fish I usually pack one or two to celebrate a hook up. The only time I drink something else is when I'm backpacking. Then it's gotta be Southern Comfort for sippin'. Excellent on a cold winters night.

I took a buddy fishing the other day. He said if I took him out he'd bring the beer. He brought Busch. I told him we weren't out fishin' for catfish with bait. He's never comin' again.

I also thought you were older than 21. Happy birhtday man.
 
On your 21st birthday it is tradition to take a Three Wise Men. Ask any bartender. Thats a shot combination of Jim, Jack, and Johnny. No excuses.
 
Just don't let anyone buy you a concrete mixer. I've HEARD it really tastes awful. But I personally would not know.
 
Coors Light for a mello night or Crown & 7up for a wild night
 
a bottle of hpnotiq will get you laid faster than any other booze. dont ask me how i know. the ladies go crazy over it. i think it has to do with the "pretty blue" color and the bottle is pretty sweet lookin. its cognac, vodka, and fruit juice. i keep a bottle in the freezer at all times. as for gettin hammered, a 12 of miller lite usually does the trick for me.

Wines: I tend to go for the Australian dry reds.

EDIT: Almost forgot, Bombay Saphire, Tanqueray is what trailer trash name their kids.

no substitute....

and my opinion is worthless... (1 red dog gets me buzzed and 2 gets me punch drunk on an empty stomach)

personaly - for my 21's, im going to blow $100 at a hold 'em table at a casino...

i figure that in 3 years, i ought to get good enough to make $100 last at least 3 hours...

I'm not a huge c0cktail fan (to me, a gin & tonic is a complex combination ;) ), but when I do drink them I'm partial to vodka martinis (none of that weird-ass flavoured stuff, either - olives are the only acceptable martini addition) and Long Island Iced Tea.

Tequila: Patron or Cazadores; avoid cuervo like the plague. Vodka: Skyy for a day-to-day bottle, Stolichnaya for the better stuff. Moskovskaya's also pretty good, but hard to find here. Gin is strictly Bombay Sapphire. Whiskey: Jameson's (the 12-year-old is *nice*), Bushmill's, or Power's. I'm not a major scotch fan so can't really give you any ideas on those, though I have had some damned good ones. Pity I can't remember their names :D
