BOTD: What beer are you drinking today?

My brother in law used to love Blue Moon. Now he will not touch the stuff. Apparently in an interview, Hilldawg was asked what her favorite beer was and he answer was Blue Moon. So now he says he just can't drink it anymore.

FWIW, I told him not to worry, I don't believe that Hillary drinks beer, just the still warm blood of small children and cute animals.

blue moon is made by coors light, same crap with a orange slice

I had a Deschutes brewery "experimental IPA" special release that was very good. 8.7% ABV not too long ago.
Right now I'm still working my way through my latest batch of homebrew, got 40 bottles of an australian pale ale I just finished.

Grolsch Blonde and Bud's Landshark Lager was the beer of choice this weekend.. Spent a long time sitting by the hotel pool in Orlando this weekend.

Forgot how much I like Blondes......

A local bar has a 'mug club'. They have a list of 40 beers and other drinks that they have in bottles at the bar (I say 'other drinks' because there is Smirnoff on the list. :puke: Other than smirnoff and woodchucks cider they are all beers though, but I digress). Every time you drink something on the list you can mark it off on your card. Over the course of drinking the 40 beers/drinks you have a chance to check off up to 6 'freebies' with a dice roll.. I knocked off things like bud light, Smirnoff, etc... but once you finish the list of beers you get to design a mug that they put on display and you get to drink out of it whenever you go to the bar. They also have a mug club meeting the first monday of every month, free food and beer for members :D

Regardless, one of the beers I had the other night from the list was Mojo. I thought it was pretty damn good. Will be buying some soon.

As always.

good beer. also, my dad's old call sign was N1IFA and my mom's was N1JXD. When we lived overseas his was V73SP. Just wondering if you may have ever crossed paths.

just finished a 6 pack of ipswich IPA. it's sort of my fall-back summer beer. it's cheap ($8.50/6 pack), delicious, and stocked many places.

Went to the store a few days ago and Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout is discontinued till next winter :(:( I am disappoint

Trying the Sam Adams chocolate stout but I don't expect it to be as good... we'll see.

i don't like most of sam's special beers. they brew them to have tons of alcohol. if you want a good choclate stout, get Rogue, Southern Tier, or... damn I know there are other good ones. BB's beers just aren't my thing.

we'll see what i come home with after my visit to the store tonight.

Be careful with beers that have chocolate in the name some use actual chocolate which is awful. What you’re probably looking for is a Russian imperial stout. Try something like Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout or Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout.

Currently in my fridge I have Pilsner Urquell, Long Trail Belgian White, and Unibroue La Fin du Monde.

Yeah, the BB Black Chocolate Stout is a russian imperial. Didn't think to check if the Sam Adams is, just saw it on the shelf near where the BB used to be so I figured what the hell I'll always give a beer a decent try and bought it.

Beer and chocolate do NOT go well together, this I know :puke:tried at one point because it seemed like it might be good. It wasn't.

some choclate stouts are good. my favorite sweet beers are oatmeal stouts (anderson valley, left hand (milk stout), ipswich, sam smith, etc). old rasputin is good but i like Siberian Night better.

my favorite beer is founders breakfast stout. and yes, i've had it for breakfast.

Today is COPPER FLASK. It is made by the Naked Lion Brewing Co. I can only find in IV, CA (UCSB for those that do not know). Good Quality, taste, and price. Only 12.99/24pk

With dinner tonight, a glass of my homebrewed Belgian Wit. Other homebrews currently on tap are Rye PA, Oatmeal Stout, and a 9% ABV hopped up Scottish Ale. And soon to be kegged, the Houblonmonstre Belgian Tripel IPA.

Right now, I'm sampling something one of my buddies gave me...

Rogue is good stuff. The mocha porter is one of my favorites, and I have a hazelnut ale waiting in the fridge. I had a Shock Top earlier - pretty similar to Blue Moon, its relatively cheap and tastes pretty good.

beer isn't for cheap drunk, that's what whiskey and rum are for...

... though I do very much like the taste of jim beam, jack daniels, georgia moon, and a few other whiskeys.

I'm giving up beer, at least for a week to start out with, to help with losing weight. I figure the way it is i have between 500 and 1300 calories a night due to beer, and it's all before bedtime. If i cna cut that out, along with the diet change and workouts I'm doing, i should be able to shed some pounds pretty fast. However, if it was up to me, I'd have a cold 12 pack of Lone Star next to me right now.
