So Cal desert rats

Aron above your lower hose is there a round plug about 1 1/2" o.d.? If so make sure it is not leaking and running down to lower hose. The whole sys. has pressure.

I recall what you are talking about, I'll check it out when I get off work. Thanks for the suggestion!

So you were right Bill! That damn plug is the problem! However tightening did not fix it. The plug is bottoming out on the transmission cooler within the side tank. I applied some lock tight thread sealer made for coolant systems and such but it couldn't hold the 16lbs pressure. I have contacted ffdynamics for this reason as well as the fan controller is not work as designed. All three fans are on all the time. I believe it is designed to have two on always and the third one activated via temp or A/C activation. I have checked all the wiring and I am positive all is correct. We'll see what ffdynamics has to say about all this. I am getting close to sending it back and ordering the dirtbound setup and a separate radiator. I bought the system hoping it would work well out of the box. While the quality appeared to be there, it certainly has not been a plug and play experience! Hopefully ffdynamics will fix this though cause I don't want to do it all over again!:banghead:

O by the way, with the lights moved out of the way, I was averaging 5-10 degrees cooler with the A/C running in 100+ temps in surface street driving. Whether that was the lights or the system finally burped I am not for sure. I will probably switch them back to in front of the radiator again now knowing all the air is out to confirm this. I am also running the system with water wetter and water only. The gauge is reading 215 to 226 with these conditions. However my gauge was reading 5-10 higher than an IR temp gun focused on the tstat housing. I imagine the IR temp gun is more accurate???? If that is the case I would be at 210+/- which I am very happy with. I think it was 108 out when I tested.

If Your temp is right now, maybe You should be running all three fan's. Gets awful hot out here, and it just getting warmed up.

I just want to know that the controller is working as it is supposed to, but three fans running for the summer time is fine by me.

Also I got to work this morning with no leak! Maybe the lock-tight needed to setup over night. I'll keep an eye on it.

So this was the response from ffdynamics:

"OK, sounds like the O ring is missing off the aluminum plug that you are talking about. We can get you out a new O ring ASAP. Also, thread lock is not a good sealer for aluminum that expands and contracts with heat, we recommend a good silicone sealant on all threads or a Teflon tape wrap, this is the way to seal threads in aluminum radiators. Give us your address and we will get you out a new O ring today.

As for the fans, all three will turn on at once and run together it is the most efficient way to run them. Also there is an adjustment pot that allows you to dial in the fan turn on temps which can be adjusted to dial the fans into the temp you want, but also keep in mind that when the A/C or the defroster is turned on then all three fans will run all the time, this is normal. The system is built to run like that for max cooling and the coldest a/c vent temps possible. our Cherokee fans are built extremely well and can take the constant running without a problem."

So :banghead: now I get to go home and drain the radiator one more time!

$.05 o-ring= $30 in coolant, down time and no sleep thinking about what was wrong!!!

Ya I'm thinking about asking for some restitution! So they are sending me some R16 o ring. Do you think I could just buy an o ring at home depot so I can fix it tonight? It can't be that special??? Can it?

So apparently R16 is a measurement standard for O rings. 16 relating to the diameter of the ring which is 19.80mm interesting! Learn something new everyday.

So why did the one that came with it bust/break ?? It wasn't sealing... so you tightened it up... and it rolled out ?? Will the next one... seal or roll out ??

Status young buck... hope it's working...

I doubt they'll do much for you... I hope though...
