So Cal desert rats

So I am done! (Minus a little clean up work). New: radiator hoses, heater hoses, water pump, t-stat, t-stat housing, ffdynamics triple threat fan kit with aluminum two core radiator, b&m trans cooler with spal fan, flushed the trans, changed the oil, fuel injectors, O2 sensor and that's about it! Two days of non stop work with about 6 hours of sleep!

Can't tell yet how it works cause I am still trying to get all the air out of the system. It is so much more quite now with the fans!

The wiring was a pain in the butt! I am so sick of people talking about their installs on thread and when they get to the wiring part they always say, "just wire it up and your good to go!" That's the worst part! Sorry Paul, all your beautiful work is now scarred up with about 15 new colorful wires! But I know I couldn't have done it without you showing me with the lights and winch.

Well I am off to bed, its family time tomorrow. Ill post up some pics when I can.

Glad it all worked out, sounds like you were busy. Did You have help? Pic's when time permits.

So here they are, cellphone quality sorry:

Various pics of the overall setup.

My lame thermostat setup for the fans. The probe wire wasn't long enough to reach the radiator and I didn't have any wire that small to splice it with so for now it works.

I cut the metal lines and flared them a little with a screw drive, when I get time ill take them off and get them flared the right way.

My rainbow of wires! Try not to notice the 50 splices I did to get it right.:banghead:

The fan controls, if I get bored and money burning a hole in my pocket I will get a better controller like the spal setup. So far I don't think this one actually works??? All three fans are on all the time. The spal cooler fan hasn't turned on yet but I have checked several times and I can hold the trans cooler hose in my hand for a good 15 sec or more before it gets too hot so I guess it hasn't reached the 180 activation yet. Ill have to try it with a good hill climb and see or borrow someones IR thermo gun.

I also want to give Paul a big thanks because after I finished cleaning up and zip tying all my wires I went to start it up and it was DEAD! No power at all! :banghead: I had a heart attack and then searched the forums with no luck and gave Paul a call. Paul said he would come over right away and help me figure it out. So while I was waiting for Paul I was going through things and decided to clean my battery terminals. Low and behold it fired right up! I called Paul and quickly cancelled, but I can't thank you enough for your willingness to come save my @ss! Props to Paul!

Also Curt for giving me some moral support! He comforted me and then told me to call Paul!:D

Looks Good! Try and post up some engine temps from tomorrow.

Will do Paul. I don't think all the air is out of the system yet, considering I drained all the water except what was in the block, I have added about 2 gallons of distilled water, 1/2 quart of wetter stuff, and about 2 quarts of coolant, what is that 10.5 quarts of added fluids, add that to what's in the block....

now that I do the math maybe it is burped.

In the driveway today with the a/c on for about 30 minutes is would go between 195 and 205. We'll see what the real word test are tomorrow.

O by the way if you didn't notice in the pics, the metal pipe that goes from the water pump to the heater hose, I switched out with galvanized steel and brass fittings. I found it on a write up and you don't have to worry about going bad. The only place I found corrosion on my system when I took it apart was on the stock metal pipe.

So today I found a loose hose clamp, took care of that. Then the beast hit 230 with the AC on, on city streets. I got home and I noticed that there was a lot of bubbling coming from the reservoir so I am hoping that means it was passing gas :p
We'll see....

Meanwhile I thought I would take a tip from the old wise men around here and see what happens when I move the lights out of the way. Who know maybe that will cure my problems. If so those lights will have to move cause they look ridiculous right now! anyways....ill keep you posted on my results!

Ya, I wouldn't leave them there I just don't want to cut wires unless I see a difference. Then again I need to make sure I have all the air out of the system before I will see accurate results. It have only had 4 cold to hot cycles since I installed everything. I have read 3 or 4 cycles should do the trick so maybe we'll see results tomorrow. Hope all goes well, I don't know what else I could add....hood vents?

I have four lights in front, but it's worth checking to see if it helps.

So the damn thing is still leaking from the lower radiator hose. I have readjusted the hose several times and it keeps leaking. I don't want to believe it but I am wondering if one of the welds has leak. The hose is new, the clamp is new, the rad is new. What gives? I doesn't even make sense to leak there cause that is the outlet so it shouldn't have a lot of pressure there?:banghead:

Aron above your lower hose is there a round plug about 1 1/2" o.d.? If so make sure it is not leaking and running down to lower hose. The whole sys. has pressure.

Like Bill said "The whole sys. has pressure." I'll be home if You want new eye's on it.
