So Cal desert rats

OK folks who wants to give me a hand? I need to get into the backyard an find some NEW trails that we can run. I want to find easy to hard, i got a dented door now so i don't care.LOL. But i want to do this in the AM cause it is getting to hot during the afternoon. We will be driving and walking alot of the canyons so we'll need lost of water, which i have already.
Post up if you want to help me with this ok. Now i got to go out to the garage an fix my F150 that i never drive, i guess it doesn't charge anymore from what i was told.

You know I'd be there if I could. I'm broke, gotta house payment and No dough. So next check is gone too. Sorry Bud. :(

Thanks for the welcome party! I was worried i would meet a bunch of punks....or maybe I did....all the more fun! I am down for an early morning adventure Scott, I live in North Indio so Sky Valley (Off Dillon Rd right?) is just behind me. I have Thursday through Monday off so I can do something this week...don't mean to have a blind date or anything just want to get out.

So I have some questions, I know this isn't a tech forum but I am looking for local knowledge. As I said I am pretty much stock aside from 30" tires, brush guard, roof rack, airfilter. I want to do some build up but am on an EXTREMELY limited budget. I am trying to prioritize for what I need in this region. I am wanting a 3" Lift, 31" tires, Bumpers front/rear with pull points, skid plates to protect the essentials, & Hi Lift. However because of the budget limit this is going to happen over the next year. What is the most important, what do I need to do first? This is my daily driver so I need this to be practical as well. Flame me if you like but again I am looking for regional advice, you know these deserts better than anyone!

IMHO, i would do lift, then tires, then skids, then bumpers...

Save and buy a kit. Do it right the first time.Could be bent from junk yard..

Plus keep your eyes open on the KARMA thread to see if anybody is giving away coils or springs. Don't ask just keep a eye open for them to post it up.

Keep your eyes open for a night run coming up here real soon. Not a wise thing to do if your jeep runs hot. I think i am planning a Meet & Greet night run in JULY sometime after the 4th. Hope to see you at this plus, we got alot of great guys out here in the desert.

Just watch out for the MAYOR, he is the class clown.LOL.

I'm basically the only SANE ! one here...

The Mayor abides...

Like Scott says... keep an eye out in the Karma & for sale threads, stuff shows up to piece a temporary lift together... while it's not practicing what I preach... it's probably wise to get protection first... You weld ?? Get a C.B.
Keep reading the threads about lifts & the advantages of waiting and saving.
You can get by on stock gears with 31... (I'd re-gear) but in the loong run you want to spend serious $ wisely. Protection... liftgearstiresandwheels... bumpers & carrier...
You actually in Indio Hills ?
Welcome... Oh... and take EVERYTHING these Jackasses say with a grain of salt.

I guess I should have added the usual safety stuff... tow points... good tow strap (no hooks on the ends) stuff like that.

I'm certainly not a punk (anymore)... closer to Scott's age (wife & family)than Tone's...

Thanks for the feedback! I like your plan XtremeXJ, protection is a must since this is my daily driver and I can't afford to be fixing what could have been protected, so I will start there. Are the stock skid plates any good? I saw some on the Karma section. I have a buddy that is pretty good with a welder but his welder is on the fritz so we are trying figure something out to get him back up and running. I was looking into a CB radio but wasn't sure how much I really needed to spend on one to get the job done. Any recommendations there?

I don't know where indio hills is exactly but I live off of golf center and 44th about 2 miles from dillion road. I have been out to berdoo cyn a couple of times now which is about 10min from the doorstep and some good easy wheeling for me to learn on. Scott, are the trails you are looking for much more advanced then berdoo cyn? I don't really know how much my stock setup can take. I am not afraid to push it as long as I am with someone who can tell me when I am in over my head!

Ya I am 28, wife, 4 month old, poor paramedic for AMR. Wasn't trying call everyone punks...I was actually trying to find a PG word for smartasses....I read all the forum rules and whatever cause I didn't want to get flammed or deleted post right off the start. It sounds like humor is accepted and appreciated here though!

Here's Mine. Run also with stock bumpers.
