Federal Government Shutdown Begins October 1:
The Recreation.gov website is not available due to a lapse in funding for the federal government. As the situation evolves we will provide additional information about how our services and reservations may be affected. For now, the site is temporarily unavailable. We invite visitors to return to this site for additional information after this situation is resolved. Please click here for additional information.

After reading some, it appears that Big Bear, as well as all other USDA and fed operated ground, locations, and areas are closed. Unless essential to life basically.

Anyone have more on this?

National park service and Utahs gov body on Moab, from what I can tell? Says on thier site...

Because of the federal government shutdown, all national parks are closed and National Park Service webpages are not operating. For more information, go to www.doi.gov.

Might not be much of a problem, canyonlands may be affected, but the rest of the rocks should still be there. The main campground (slickrock) is private so it should be fine.

All the local campgrounds will be open but you may not have much for bathroom or trash service.

The national park campgrounds may be closed but you probably won't stay there anyway since they are all 80 mi from Moab.

Moab was open for business. BLM sites closed, privates open. Party still happened, we had fun.
