I think our weather anchors just get attention-starved and call for large amounts of snow. We haven't seen any of thing of they have called for this winter.

LOL, your not joking. this is basically all i have seen on the news. it is actually more popular than the Haiti disaster right now... amazing.
I need to stock up on liquor and beer. That is always the first thing my house-hold runs out of!
Not b/c of the ice scare, but for general safety since we have a very young child, i am keeping my eyes out for a small gas generator. Just enough to power the electric blower since we have a natural gas furnace. Anyone have any experience with setting anything like this up before?

be careful of the start up power draw of whatever you plug in. the generator needs to be able to handle that big of a surge or you will have problems.
The last time we got snow and ice, Tyler and I went out that night to help people... ended up helping a dozen people up and down hills on a few of our steep curvy roads... and then we just drove around for fun, didn't have the slightest problem either
Gotta love the 4hi lever...
She might want to get the Heep, the track is taking it through Tidewater and if the cold air is there then you will get dumped on. They have reduced the amount here but are still saying this storm is a monster. We are expecting 6-12 inches.
Looks like sharp cut-off lines through NC. Just a few miles north might make the difference between 3" and a foot of snow...which is usually how it works around here.
Latest forecast this morning says 3-7" possible over night, with a switch to freezing rain adding 0.1-0.2" of ice on top of the snow. Then tomorrow, switch back to snow with another 2-4" possible.
