Any snow trails in the Sierras that a stockish XJ can handle?

Yes there are tons of "trails"! Well, technically roads... but when they arnt plowed, they might as well be. Stockish can have pleanty of fun on any un plowed road. If you are locked or have chains, you could do alot more.

in my expierence, they either allow both 4x4's with snow tires and autos with chains or no one at all...

so...

I dont see where you need them with a 4x

that said - some here reccomend carrying chains anyway... and it is never a bad idea to be prepared..

This is a good thread about chains. I guess it just depends Where ya go. Was Up at Shast last week, LOTS o SNOw, Chain check just asked if in 4wd.

It depends on where you are planning to go. Generally around Shaver Lk area you have to carry chains with you even if you have 4wd and snow tires. It sounds like everywhere else in CA is a lot more relaxed.
