Snow Wheelin' 1/29/11

I'm from modesto, I might be down to go, but I have no idea where this place is?

That would be great if you could make it Gary! It would be nice to meet you. The trails we're looking at are all real close to the Rubicon. This is as close as I could get from memory on the map. This should be right about where the fun stuff starts. http://goo.gl/maps/pSx2

How extreme is this trail, I just purchased my XJ a few weeks ago, It is basically stock with the exception of 31's and some fender trimming!

I will have to pass then, I wont have the 8.8 and locker installed for awhile, I will be on a heavy overtime job for the next few months. Have fun fellas

Someday I will be able to come play in the snow with you guys. Caught some weird bug last week and wasn't able to go to pick n pull to grab the tow brackets I saw. IF I can run out there this week and snag a set and get them installed, I'll update here.

Gary- Welcome the site man, everyone on the sierra chapter is friendly and helpful. Think I have actually saw your rig a few days ago. Color and lack of flares seem familiar with one I saw on Mchenry.

I should be able to make this, but im hesitant. First snow run this season for me = Broken front Ring and pinion, second snow run = broken teralow.. both are fixed but I think im over breaking stuff in the snow. I will think about it.

Most likely was me, my G/F lives right off of McHerny near that new Inshape.

I cruised up to La Grange today to try out my new wrangler authorities on something other than pavement, I wasn't there 5 minus and had to pull a Durango out, burried to the rockers in a mud hole!

hah, i pulled out a suburban last time I was there. I actually almost headed that way today but figured the mud would be bad.

Wow, I've never seen such carnage in the snow! I must be good luck! I think you're safe to come along ;)

It really wasn't bad. Few muddy spots, I just wanted to fart around for a hour or so but I didn't even get to wheel much because that truck wouldn't start once I jerked it out of it's hole. I did however come to the conclusion that my shocks are toast, next mod for me is new springs and shocks! 1 or 2" lift coils up front. Rebuild my stock leafs in the back and some bilstein 5150's all the way around!

The more the merrier!

The absolute minimum requirements should be front and rear tow points and a shovel. 31's + would be good, a locker or two would be better. Snow wheelin' experience goes a long way too though.

I heard Uncle Tom's doesn't have much snow. If I can confirm that, we'll probably go somewhere else up that way.

You guys ok meeting at the McDonalds at Sunrise and Zinfandel (across from In-n-Out) right off of Hwy 50?

Billy

So where are we meeting and what time? Just not to early I may be hung over!

I'm not sure yet man. I can't find anybody that can say w/ any certainty where we'll find snow! I hear Wentworth Springs, Uncle Tom's, Airport Flats, Morman Emmigrant, and Iron Mtn are all slush/ice/dry! Do you know of anybody that may have been up 50 recently?
Billy

was gonna just sneek up there and meet you guys but I am still sick so I wont make this run. Looks like it wont be much fun without snow anyways. Hope you guys have fun anyways.
