A trick I learned a long time ago, if you keep the nail, paint it with clear nail polish or the dead spot will slowly flake off and leave a hole and ragged edge in the middle of the nail, that catches on your pocket and other things. Painting it with clear polish, until it grows out and disappears, sure saves a lot of aggravation. Any left over polish, can be used in place of Loc Tite on many screws and fasteners and also comes in handy, in the old tackle box.

the funny thing is(or not) that i have another small blodd blister that is just getting to the end of the nail that has been noving for about a month... i was just about to get a unmarred nail...... damn it... now i look like the clutz that i am.... BTW.. it matters to me becuase I work in the marketing dept and the bossman has a thing about clean nails... I am always using an exacto to clean my nails before meetings... most of the time i still cant get all of the oil out on mondays....

BUT, if you want to have fun try to get the old nail off cleanly so that it goes back on, then while sitting round the table at the local bar with your buddies you can gross them out buy *pulling and grimencing in pain* the whole time, bet you get a bigger share of the wings

I've done it twice. I just used my smallest bit and did it with my fingers (no drill). Soak it in some proxcide (SP?) after and you'll be good.

Ditto, I keep a special bit in my medicine cabinet for just this purpose.

Man, the pressure relief is WELL worth it.
