better to leave it be,, youll just open it up to get infected, and once it quits hurting it wont be an issue, Ive got one right now, that I thought i would lose the nail, and so far its still there after a month...:thumbdn:

If it was a flesh blister I'd drain it with a poke, and disinfect thoroughly.

However, I don't play with anything under the nail until and unless it becomes necessary.

Most blood blisters will see to themselves, and you're likely to do more damage to the nail bed and your finger if you do anything than if you just leave it be.

NEVER use a drill to "poke it" drill bits have a tendency to pull themselves through more than just a nail... I've seen it happen in person after warning the person doing it of the danger..... If "poking" it is necesary proceed with extreme caution with a "tool" of your choice to get through the nail. and as mentioned above disinfect, disinfect, then disinfect some more....

I would just let it be if its "not that bad". If you think it just has to be done... try a "HOT" poker. Should just melt right thru the nail.

If you drill that sucker out, have someone else take the pictures. Because once the pain hits, you'll probably drop the camera. :)

Use a hot (red) needle to burn thru.

X3 on the needle.

Just heat it up with a lighter till it's red hot.
Then, all you have to do is barely press the needle onto the nail and it will burn a hole very easily through the nail.
You won't even feel it.
It's by far the most pain-free method.
I've done it twice just this year.
You be glad you did.

slammed and locked a finger in the back door of my van years ago, no pain till I opened the door, then I felt it down to my toes. Pain with every heartbeat, GF took me to the sub base medical center where they poked it, blood shot up and hit the overhead work light. Better than getting off, instant relief. Done it twice since then, used a model drill with a wire sized drill, uses two fingers to turn it and one to push from the back, any hobby shop will have them. Disenfect the drill bit first... the hot needle at the sub base med center worked better though.

I've done it twice. I just used my smallest bit and did it with my fingers (no drill). Soak it in some proxcide (SP?) after and you'll be good.

We used the paperclip instead of a needle. You can bend it out and make it long enough to not burn your fingers while holding it.

That's what needlenose pliers are for.
That or someone else to do the poking.

X whatever on the hot needle.

Have someone take a picture when it squirts out - and be sure to post it:thumbup:
