on the 87 it is on the front of the fuel rail, it is held in by a few screws on the fuel rail bracket, the return line to the tank is on the driverside, and the vacuum supply line is on the other side by the valve cover. you can check it buy pulling the vacuum line off and turning the key on if fuel comes out of the nipple where the vacuum line goes on the regulator is bad. do not do this while the motor is hot because the exhaust manifold is right below it. As far as price goes, my dealer did not have one, and they are discontinued, we got one from napa for 70 bucks, they are not cheap so check it first.
