Slickrock - Saturday/Sunday 23/24

If all goes well, I will be heading up to Lake Alpine for the weekend. I plan on wheeling SR at least once while I'm up there. I can do either Saturday or Sunday. Let me know if you can make it up either day, and we can play on the rocks.

I will either be staying at our cabin at Lake Alpine, or camping at the Spicer side of Slickrock.

Also, there's a rumor of a mud hole on slickrock. I am picturing it at the top of the "slickrock" slab/climb. Apparently there is an illegal bypass around it that is being used, but shouldn't be there. I want to see if there is anything I can do to block off the bypass or (if someone joins me) do what I can to make the mud pit passable for the smaller rigs. Any help with this would be appreciated!

Also I am hoping to check out Deer Valley, and possibly wheel in to the gate at the border of the El Dorado forest.

Apparently the gate is about a mile in from the Hermit Valley/ highway 4 side. The gate should be at the border of the Stanislaus and El Dorado forests.

SO they actually installed a gate? All that which that entails, concrete, posts, locks, signs, everything else needed to install a gate, etc?

What about from the BL side, anybody scouted that yet?

Yep! Didn't take many on slick rock, and I haven't gone through the ones from deer valley yet. I posted this in my 'hero' blog.

I ended up wheeling the Slick Rock trail again this weekend. I was the only one that I saw going in from the Alpine side. I ran into a bunch of people from the San Joaquin Jeepers and another 4x4 group. Good times were had at the Stair Steps...... as always

Oh, I walked the steps too. I make myself proud.

Heres the few pics my dad and I took from the day on the trail (not many )

The new "gatekeeper" at the bottom of the steps. Even the built rigs were having trouble with it.

Some dude with a badass buggy was there too!
