the sad thing is i made up those same exact steps the night before around 1am. twice.
i dont know what i did differently then.
i was already having a bad day.
the XJ that went up before me broke a front shaft(trevor on here) he has the exact same setup as i do too....
and another guys broke a shaft in the back area too. so i felt like taking it easy and driving it home....
yah there were like 50 people up top that said every single person thought i was rolling. i thank the flex from the soft leaves, good shocks, long arms, and full coils...
i was calm i figured i was going over. i was more surprised that it didnt roll...
as for the brushguard that thing saves my front clip all the time ! its ugly but it works great! lol
Having never been to Slick Rock, is that a normal section of trail? Any by-pass around that? Just curious. That looks a little more serious than I expected.
That is the hardest part of the trail, and there is an easier "bypass" about 1/2 way up the hill/steps, left just before where Jon almost rolled.
Its the path that Jon takes in this vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1ROyv6vfqk
The first part through to said "bypass" was fairly easy for me, but seemed to pose a problem for others.
That actually made sense after I read it a couple times and watched the video. I know the normal requirements for Slick Rock are 3" and 31's, but I'm wondering if a carefully driven 2.5"-3" lift with 30" A/T's would make it. Open/Open of course.
Its worth a shot. Im on 31's with 4.5" of lift (1" t-case drop brings the drivetrains lowest point to 3.5" over stock) open/open and walked right up the steps, and took that little "bypass"
my friend bill didnt make it up the bottom until we lifted his rear up to like 5.5" with longer shocks and brakelines, rear bumpstops and homebrew discos up front, but he was on 3.5" and 31s open open before those mods
