wtf...all this skyjacker hating. the only thing that sucks about the SJ kit is the price and the ghetto CA links...which can be fixed.

the subframe is great, and though it's true skyjacker doesn't specialize in (or even give a sh*t about) XJs, they obviously put some time into that component.

the only other big lift that doesn't f*ck up the xj is the FT setup...RE is okay...

4link ftw

If I could go back in time, I would have bought a Full Traction kit when I lifted my XJ. The money I saved buying a cheaper kit, I made up by having to replace the junk parts that came with it. Clayton and TNT are great options as well. Not that it matters, but my opinion is if your gonna commit to doing it, do it right the first time.

Papa - Like my OP I stated that I am able to get the Skyjacker kit for only $1250 which I thought was an absolute steal compared to $2300+. So buy the kit and replace the CAs?
AZ XJ - so are you saying the Skyjacker kit is good or are you referring to another?
Blaine - I have a budget boost on my XJ right now and was considering keeping that installed when I do buy my lift. (spacer and extended shackle)

Thanks guys keep the posts comin!

I'm saying that there is much better out there for the money. The kit I was referring to is the Full Traction kit, which is of excellent quality. http://www.full-traction.com/
The kit is super sturdy and from what I understand has excellent road manners.

My point is this, spending more $ up front will save you more $ in the long run. I've spent almost the same amount of money replacing the junk parts that came from my original lift kit with new parts to make it right. And it's still not at the point where I think it should be. Trust me, it's not a fun position to be in.

Finally, a response I was looking for - straight forward and to the point! I definitly dont want to spend more just to get where I think it should be. I have actually looked into the Full Traction kit quite a few times. Thank you AZXJ!

the list price on it was $2265.98. However, with a little help from them being authorized dealers and what not I can walk away with this kit for only $1219.87 tax included and no shipping since its local!

if they can afford to drop the price a thousand dollars, they are ripping you off. that, or their list price came right out of there ass to make you perceive value.
buy direct, or as close as possible. theres ZERO need to buy a lift thru an offroad shop... unless you like paying people to rip you off

i used to help with seasonal work installing audio/visual/hitches/nerf bars/car starters. and am related to the owner.

cool, actual stuff that matters. my mistake. just didnt want you falling for bs if they came out and said car salesmanesq stuff, which is how i interpreted it.

yeah, i read the original post and all, i just got distracted by the bashing. everyone around here loves the cherokee-specific kits, and bashes on skyjacker. i'm just biased against radius arms like they are against rip-off name brand kits.

if you can get the skyjacker for that price, go for it...sounds like a steal. just make sure you're getting the kit w/ the sub-frame. i may not be current on skyjacker's naming conventions, but i would think "value-flex" would be the bargain kit w/ just springs, shocks and rubber bushing CAs (as opposed to the "rock ready" stuff).

if that's all you're getting, just stick w/ rough country. skyjacker's shocks may be better, but probably not much. their springs may be better riding too...but w/ 6" and no drop on the control arms, it'll be rough anyhow.

oh, and if you do end up with the rock ready kit, you don't have to replace the CAs. if you wanted better quality ends though, you could just swap the heims for johnny-joints. skyjacker's track bar mount does seem a little jenky too, though i don't have the experience to tell you if it'll break of not...probably won't break unless you really romp on it on nasty rocks...

my understanding from what i can remember was including a 3 piece integrated subframe. will check on that tuesday when i can get out there. if i cant get the subframe i am looking into the full traction and clayton lifts as "stand-by" kits. i ran the skyjacker shocks with my superlift kit a while back and i felt they rode much better. however i only used the skyjackers after installing BPE's and front shock conversion. replacing the ends is no big deal and was planning on eventually going with a different steering set-up all together. so if it could get me through 6 months to a year that would be more than ok in my opinion.

There are good and bad components in all complete kits. the skyjacker subframe is a great idea used bye a lot of jeepspeed people. the trac bar and heims are crap. why spend $ on something your going to have to replace? bds kit looks good with the exception of there trac bar, which in the pics of there LA kit appears to be a tre set up.again not good. IMHO the best suspension kits are pieced with all the components being quality, that won't need replacing immediately.the full traction kit appears to be nice also, but again there are things about it such as coil springs, where a better quality can be bought. in the end it's up to the person purchasing what they feel will fit there needs.example i buy bds coils.they have a heavier #/inch rating and are gaurenteed for life.skyjacker and RE also make nice coils.bds sells a long arm upgrade which you might look into.good luck on whatever you end up purchasing and happy holidays.

there are just so many options and decisions its almost too tough for one person!!! LOL.

I understand that feeling! Your going about it the right way by seeing what's available, and doing your research before you purchase. A Skyjacker RR kit was my dream suspension setup when I first got into XJ's, and before I realized what else was out there. I think for your stated use, the Skyjacker would probably suffice. However as I stated before, there are significantly better setups available for similar money. TNT, Clayton, BDS, and Full Traction all make bitchin' products, and all offer something different. Just do the research on each product and see what will fit your needs, and your budget the best. In the end, you can feel good about whatever you decide because you will have made the best decision for you.

Has noone contacted Skyjacker about the defaults of their kit? From the research I've been doing it seems as though most companies listen to the people that use their product and work on fixing what is wrong. You would think even though Skyjacker specializes in "full-size show trucks" they would still attempt at fixing the trackbar and joints instead of putting their name on a "Rock Ready" kit that isnt even ready for a "tree branch" (from what most are saying here).
