Simple rear bump stops on top of the Ubolt plates

I did the very same thing over a year ago only I stacked a few 1 inch square pieces and welded them together - no additional rubber added. Its held up fine after 4 trips to Moab and some serious flexing. I'm using the stock u-bolts as well.

I would guess that they hit the stock rubber upper bumps? Should be fine.
I had pucks in the front, worked just fine.

Not sure how a hockey puck can deteriorate. Even with large force being put onto it, they should not simply just break down.

the hockey puck will disintegrate. use UHMW or delrin.

If he's doing anything serious they might otherwise they'll be fine for quite sometime..

they wont deteriorate exactly... but ive had them crack in 2 around the bolt hold. as far as withstanding the elememts, they should last much longer than the OE bump they are going to be mating with.

the problem with them how he has them vs what you have is that the 2 sides of the pucks are unsupported. when they are in the front (how I used to run them) they are fully supported by the coil bucket so you are just trying to compress them, they will last quite a while like that.

on what scale? I can slice one in half with a pocket knife.

the oe bumps are able to take much more deflection than a puck before tearing. without any support under them, they will crack on the sides.

but like he said, they only cost a dollar... so whatever.

I just beat the crap out of these stops with a fully loaded jeep for 200 miles through the Mojave, and they held up, although the results may have to be thrown out as I discovered that the shackles were acting as partial stops against the bumper, too.
