Found out late last week that Amanda had the weekend off, so we decided to take a last minute trip and head up to Silver Lake on Saturday to go play on the dunes. Here's some pics :)

do they still rent out wranglers to go play in the dunes with? i havent been up there since i moved back to the west coast, when i lived in toledo i used to go up there once every couple months.:yelclap: its alot like pismo beach out here, with the dunes going right up to the water.

my fav is the passenger rear 3/4 view looking over the lake --> a nice green to blue gradient, the colors are awesome..

..how did you get there from chicago area, if you dont mind me asking?

looks like another place ill need to check out before the snow flies.

Thanks for the post Randy. I went there with my family when I was a kid. (I grew up in Michigan) I want to take my wife and show her some of the beauty around the Lakes. This is motivation!

any place to camp near there randy?

the wife would love to go look at the lighthouse.

my drivetrain is hating me for even thinking about going in sand.

quite a few campgrounds right there......but they fill up quick this time of the year, and you have to reserve 2 nights minimum for weekends (which sucks). we didn't end up camping this trip like we had planned, but we were planning on driving 10-20 miles east to plenty of free camping in the Manistee National Forest

sounds good, I'll drive 30 minutes to camp for free.
