Sierrafest 2010

any ideas on the date of Sierrafest 2010? just want to make sure I'm not on call for next years event....can't wait!

I wish it was earlier in the summer. I missed it this year because of school.

There was talk of another Rubicon/Fordyce run for this years Sierra Fest. Realistically it will be up to the incoming chapter BOD to plan and schedule the event. Sometime in August is about all that can be said at this point.

Rubicon seems rather short for Sierra Fest. Would it be Rubicon and Fordyce type of things? What would the smaller rigs do? Starboard D would like to drive his Jeep on this, but he will only be on 32s and hopefully locked/locked by that time.

Yeah. I'm not asking to move a whole event just so some college kids could go, but that'd be nice!

We did Fordyce/Rubicon before, and we had a weekend run on Fordyce, then Rubicon to Buck Island Lake on Monday, Buck to Rubicon Springs on Thursday, and out Tahoe side on Friday. It was actually pretty nice having two full days to relax by the lake.

Let's see what the new BOD plans before worrying about requirements.

I know my neighbor runs fordyce every year.

That's pretty much 33" and locked right?

Yeah, for a run through Fordyce 33's and a full locker are minimum.

IIRC Sierra Fest was not always a week shindig. I want to say it was an every other year week long deal. Right?

2005 I can't remember anything?
2006 was maybe Rubicon, low turnout
2007 was Shaver Lake area
2008 was the 25th anniversary in Moab
2009 was Swamp

Is that right?

2006 Opie and I were in Oxnard
2007 Liz and I went for the weekend
2008 Liz and I went to Moab
2009 I was in Canada

It'd be great to get all of us out there.

I think most people would love to run that trail!

I tried the Fordyce, Rubicon, Barrett thing in 2006. Only a handful of people showed interest but the run was cancelled. A few of us ran the trip anyway, it was a pretty cool relaxing run for me.

I'm glad someone brought this up, we can decide how to run things later but we need to set some dates. When do you guys start school?

I start Monday August 23rd, so the latest weekend I could do would be August 14-15 since I have to drive back out here.

August 14 is the wife's birthday...unfortunately the Jamborees are some time shortly before that. So that'd be a consideration if the new BOD wants to do a Rubicon Sierrafest, when are the Jamborees?

Sierra trek for the weekend (which everyone could attend) and then head to rubicon for a sunday to wed run

How much does Sierra Trek cost?

That usually has quite a few cars, yes?

They use to have a lot of participants and i'm sure they can use a lot more now. The nice thing is that the event is very family friendly and I believe they have a minumum tire size of 31".
(showers, restrooms, awesome camping spots, live band, games for kids, a bar, your breakfast and dinner is prepared for you)

I think the cost is around $180 for adults for four days of camping and food.
