Rock Creek Quarry: 37.116741°, -119.154193° (this one is killer)

Great info thank Ben.

Did you get this from the Sierra FS website or do they have another you get the info? Just curious about easier ways to find this stuff out.

I just call every year at the beginning of June. Was hoping that Dusy would be open earlier than normal due to the fact that there is NO snow anywhere up there. But nope, business as usual for trail openings. I expect that Courtright Reservoir will be super low this year, which is very fun to drive around the banks once the water level goes down.

NF says, and rightfully so, that there will be significant fire restrictions this year, so don't plan on having fires and possibly even stoves. Manifold corn dog and burrito time.

I also heard from a hiker friend that Swamp Lake trail is looking difficult this year.

This is what the smoke looked like at Nellie Lake a couple of days ago.

Prather, this morning, the smoke is prevalent.

If you plan on coming up to recreate, then prepare for poor breathing conditions.

If you have respiratory problems then you might want to postpone any trips in the area.

There have been about 16 fires in the past week (most of them are contained) The Aspen fire close to 3,000 acres is still going. There is smoke everywhere and wind, temperature etc. effect it, as well.

We were up at Courtright last weekend and the lightning was insane. Smoke the day after.
