wouldn't loom been cheaper than all the wire ties :D

hell no I got 1000 of them for 4.99 :D At least its not electrical tape.

I'm digging the brace for the filter, this has been a great build to watch. Thanks for keeping up with it, it's really coming out great.

Yea, as you can see Im starting my rough in wiring. I still have alot of wiring to do. The loom is a bit exposed now until i can start this pig. Once i know its going to run I'll sanitize the wiring loom.

The terminal strips I bought at Home Depot. Nothing fancy. I made the buss strip. Just bought some 1" X .125" copper stripes from McMaster carr, then machined them up.

I'm stealing that idea from you. Thanks.

Man I just found this post.I have to say 20 years ago I was fabricating a ton of VW based cars for Score,Micky Tompsons, and NDRA cars. This is some of the best home Fab work I have ever seen. You seem to know exactly were to add the beef in all the right places. My hats off to you man on the great work.I can't wait to see your jeep in action.I would have still been in Cal.If I had take'n the job I was offered at Cal Wells racing, and Toyota racing team back then.Man I miss this sh-t so bad.Keep up the good work, and the pictures. Thanks Rod

Thanks for those kind words. I worked a bit with the PPI group back when Ivan was running Yokohama tires. Great group of people.

I just noticed were your from Larry.I'm originaly from Hac.Hgts, and La Puente.I used to sell stuff at the foothill swapmeet back in the day.A sh-t ton of VW parts, and off road goodies.PPI,and Cals had some great people working for them back then. They were also a very tight nit group fun as hell to run around with.

Couple of questions:
Why the internal fuel pumps? Not knocking it,(actually like the install,..)but won't that make it hard to service the pumps?
Pumpassm.jpg

Do you have some kind of splash guard or seal between the filler neck and the window cover panel? If not, you might want to consider at least a foam or rubber gasket. Any Fuel spilling out of a fill can or coming back out of the fill neck from an over-fill is going to spill right down inside the truck.

Not sure if there's anything you can do about it, or if it's even an issue, but the closed off window panel makes it hard for the fuel man to see when the gas starts filling up in the filler neck. He won't know when the tank's full.

These pumps are readily available and are only $80. I’m running two so I’m hoping that I won’t have to work on them all the time. But your right it would have been easier to work on a exterior mounted pump. My thinking is if I lose two pump in one race then I’ve got bigger problems with the system to resolve. I will be fabing a compleate back up unit with two pumps.

Man your right I need to seal this up. I was trying to keep the door operational. Thanks for the heads up.

The filler was placed as far back in the rear door window i could. You do have a view of the filler tube standing just to the right of the filler. Not the greatest view. I'll just have to use a two man fuel team.

Thanks for taking the time to critic my build. I do appreciate honest and constructive feed back like this. Its how we learn and excel.
