Hey guys,

I am looking for an internship at an auto shop for while I'm back home for winter break. If anybody here has an open spot in their shop for an intern, or knows of a shop that might even remotely be interested in an intern, please let me know. I have a bit under my belt, but would really like to expand my knowledge of vehicles and technology other than the solid axles and carburetors that I am used to.

If you guys know of anybody in the bay area (preferably close to the east bay), give me a shout!

Hey dude,
I don't know about short-term help, but I think you are going about it the right way. I walked around with a bag of resumes looking for an internship sort of gig. A year later, it's my full time gig w/ benefits and all.
I'm trying to think of which shops I know that might need a new guy to help out.
My advice is to hit all the shops on San Pablo in Berkeley with a resume. Art's Automotive is usually pretty busy but I hear even they are slow right now.
If you want to come by Berkeley Bob's some time, that is where I work. Like I say - I don't think we have an internship for you right now but I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.

Tim - thanks for the post. Ive been running around all weekend dropping off applications and resumes and talking to managers and such, hopefully something will pull through. What's nice is these shops are all within a mile of my house, so when my jeep is down for work I could just bike there.

I really appreciate the info, it is reassuring to know that what I am doing right now has worked out fairly well for someone else. Now, unfortunately, berkely is a good 30 minute drive from here... Especially if my xj is under construction haha. However, if I ever do make it out there, I will be sure to stop by and introduce myself.

Thanks again for your time and information!
